How to get more from your body moisturiser
Moisturiser is one of those must-have products that we use all the time, but often we aren’t using it to its full potential. Today, with help from The Body Shop British Rose Collection, I share with you my top six tips for how to get more out of your body moisturiser.
Tip #1: Exfoliate first
Before applying a moisturiser, exfoliate your skin with a scrub like The Body Shop British Rose Exfoliating Gel Body Scrub. It will remove the top layer of dead skin cells, allowing your moisturiser to penetrate deeper into the skin.
Tip #2: Choose for your skin type
Not all moisturisers do the same thing, so it is important to pick one that is best suited to your skin concerns. If you suffer from dry skin, opt for a thicker body butter like the British Rose Instant Glow Body Butter. The moisture-rich formula hydrates the skin while giving a velvet-smooth finish. For dull-looking skin, give it a boost with the Instant Glow Body Essence. The lightweight cream gives an instant, all-over luminous glow.
Tip #3: Look for beneficial ingredients
Obviously you want a moisturiser that’s going to hydrate, but try picking one that will offer other benefits as well. For example, the British Rose Collection is made with pure rose essence that comes from 100 per cent organic, hand-picked roses. The special formulation not only offers the skin fresh, dewy moisture and a luminous glow, but it has a smoothing effect on the skin’s texture.
Tip #4: Mix it up
If you’re after a bit of extra colour, add a small amount of your favourite fake tan to your moisturiser for a DIY gradual tanner. Then just apply an even layer all over your body for a subtle, bronzed glow.
Tip #5 Focus on fragrance
If you choose your moisturiser wisely, it can also double as your fragrance. It’s a good idea to choose one with a subtle scent that isn’t too overpowering, as it will be used on most of your body. The soft rose scent of the British Rose Collection is light enough for all-over, everyday use. If you’re after a stronger floral fragrance, try layering the scent by lightly spritzing the British Rose Eau de Toilette on your pulse points. You’ll be smelling fresh and fabulous all day.
Tip #6: Keep the tub
This might sound like a weird one, but moisturiser and body butter tubs are great for storing all kinds of little beauty tools and accessories. I’ve been using tubs from the British Rose range to store cotton tips and I love their gorgeous, feminine rose design. They look so cute on my bathroom counter!
