My body is in Melbourne.
I have a lot of extended family in SA.
That’s where my Dad's from...
Are you in Radelaide or elsewhere?

My body used to live in Melbourne. My mind wasn't present for most of the 8 years there.
Yep, suburbian Radelaide indeed! Glenelg to be more specific. 10 years here now and the nice chillness of Radelaide has helped my mind dwell in the same abode as my body.
Perhaps a G&T when you come visit the extended family?

It’s not just about the ingredients...
It’s about how the ingredients are delivered.
The only thing that works on cellulite is a certain method of lymphatic drainage pioneered in Brazil.
If people want to pay for a prestige brand, I say splurge on Sisley over La Mer.
With the exception of carrot seed oil, I don’t use essential oils in any of my skincare.
I make a lot of my own skincare as I have myriad skin concerns...

What does carrot seed oil do? It sounds so incredibly specific! As in, it is not carrot oil, but rather the seed. I am intrigued.

Ahh ok. A big nopety nope for me then For some reason rose hip anything makes my face burn and my eyes sting. It gets angry immediately as it touches my face. Which takes a whole heap of products off the list that I can try.
But thank you for the AWO name :)

Best avoided!
In fact, you might be best off avoiding most plant based oils and extracts...

Thank you for the info!!
Would you happen to know why my skin hates it so much my Skin Guru? :)

It could be anything from how old the oil is to it being too rich for your skin...
By their very nature, plant oils are a cocktail of various components and your skin could be reacting to one or many of them!

Interesting, it might be best to steer clear. (And who knows, with all my weird allergies (like seriously? Limonene? wtf)
The T.O Marula oil just sat on top of my skin. It would not budge an inch. No matter how gently I massaged it, whispered sweet nothings in its ear, nothing. Just bleh.

Leave the Marula to the Elephants or drink the delicious Amarula!
I love Amarula more than Bailey's!
South Africa for the win there!!

I tried Amarula once about 20 years ago and I remember not liking it.
Looks like neither smearing it on my face nor ingesting it agrees with me :)

GAHHHHHHHH oops! Sorry for the double post! I am paranoid when posting so I copy/paste into notepad (it has saved my butt a million times) and I just saw it there and thought I hadn't posted it as a response earlier. And of course I cannot delete the other one..... Sorry Hun! Actually what I might do it just @edit@ it to say Hello! :)
Thank you dahlink for the link!
God, one -does- really have to have a chemistry degree when it comes to skin care!
I think right now we are sort of stuck between two worlds: Naturewashing and sciencewashing skincare. (Yes, I know I am guilty of this as well by using The Ordinary - but at least I can actually look at the ingredient it contains and look up it's 'purported' benefits and makes -some- sort of educated decision from there rather than rely on woo)
I always hate to point out to people that just because it is 'natural' does not automatically mean that it is good. Cyanide is natural....
And there are COUNTLESS things that are not 'natural' that are incredibly good for humans.
Perhaps cinchona bark? Which was used to make the anti-malaria drug quinine! Imagine what the world would be like if that wasn't made 'un-natural'? Imagine the countless deaths had it not been synthesized??!!
Or you know, just another teeenie one: aspirin and paracetamol. Derived from a natural ingredient, that ingredient is the antipyretic called white willow bark. Now imagine if this was not synthesised??!! (That is made in an un-natural chemical?)
I know we must kind of be honest as well: we do like to be 'sold' things. Of course I want to think that what I slather on my face will be beneficial. And staying on top of things can be difficult. And the most difficult thing is not falling for either the argument from nature, or the sciencewashing of the beauty industry.
