How to get healthy again after an Easter blowout

If you’re anything like me, you woke up on Monday wondering just how to get healthy again after your Easter blowout.
After all, from the countless chocolate eggs, to the processed bread and bottles of wine, the Easter weekend was full of food indulgences.

To make things worse (or better, depending on how you look at it), you probably took things pretty easy on the fitness front as well, forgoing your usual exercise routine in favour of couch time and afternoon naps.
Of course, there’s nothing wrong with indulging occasionally. But the reality is, all good (read: unhealthy) things must come to an end eventually. Here are seven ways to get healthy again post-Easter, to help you get back on track...

1. Get your portion sizes right
Portion control is essential in order to get back into a healthy eating pattern – and that includes your Easter eggs. I’m talking about treating yourself to just one or two small eggs for dessert each night (NOT the whole bag!). Or, if you were lucky enough to receive a giant Easter egg, break it up into smaller pieces and limit yourself to just one piece per day for afternoon tea or dessert. 2. Eat more raw foods

3. Change up your exercise routine

I'm so proud I didn't eat much chocolate this Easter but I did eat a lot in general! Having days off can be so dangerous - you just eat whenever you feel hungry cause its so convenient to open the fridge at home!

I think they are pretty sensible tips. :) I was pretty good at Easter and didn't eat too much chocolate or sweets. I did drink some wine though and ate a few salty snacks and therefore yesterday I had a smoothie only day to get rid of water retention. Worked pretty well for me, almost 2 kilos lighter this morning. It is really important to know what is going on with our bodies. I know that when I eat too much salt and drink alcohol my body will swell with water.

Amen to all! Excellent tips! Also more raw fruits and veg will return hydration best on the cellular level (unlike plain water just passed trough) and you will glow in no time again =D
Make creamy fruit smoothies, fruit salads, nibble on crunchy veg dipped in raw nut butters and homemade hummus , freeze banana chunkz, then use them as an icecream base (blitz stuff in your blender with some berries or vanilla...or any flavour, young coconut meat will make it even creamier!), make raw avo/cacao puddings (or wihth chia)...who said choko time has to be over! I just ate a few homemade cacao nibs/coconutty buttons ...mmmmm

Love these tips! I think we all need this reminder especially when it's about the time of the year when our new year's resolutions start to wane. I've been trying to fit in more exercise into my day and eating less junk food!

I seriously need to start doing every single one of these things, how did i become so unhealthy. Looking forward to looking and feeling great, so hard to find a good routine that works though between the stress of everything else to do in the day.

It is a great idea to detox your skin every now and then but as far as body detoxing goes a friend of mine who is an expert on nutrition says the kidneys are our best detoxer and a lot of these detoxing kits are of no benefit to you whatsoever. I THINK THE SITUATION MIGHT BE DIFFERENT IF YOUR KIDNEYS are not in good working order.

I have been changing my diet a lot these past couple of months because of health issues. I started to eat more plant based foods, avoid dairy and try to eat more natural/organic products

I had a bit of chocolate but nothing extreme, plus it's rare for me so not feeling too guilty. I think food is key to looking and feeling good.
