How to get fat – fast!
We talk a lot about things we can do to lose weight – which foods to eat, what exercises to do, and how to stop snacking at work.
We’re constantly trying to better ourselves, but you may not realise just how healthy your eating habits already are. To put things into perspective, we’ve compiled a list of some of the most fattening and oh-so-bad-for-you foods.
Our verdict? If you’re not eating any of the below foods on a daily basis, go on and treat yourself to that biscuit – it’s nothing compared to these monsters…
The cronut is a drool-worthy fusion of two delicious treats: the croissant and the doughnut. Unfortunately, when you combine two fatty foods, they DON’T cancel each other out. A cronut clocks in at approximately 1,130 calories, 900 of which are fat.
2. Deep-fried bacon
If you thought frying up some bacon on a Sunday morning was bad, try coating it in batter and deep-frying it. Yep, people do this. Gross, right?
3. The Pumpple Cake
This cake is 1,800 calories PER SLICE. At first glance, its two layers - chocolate and vanilla - look innocent. But inside the chocolate layer resides a pumpkin pie, while the vanilla is home to an apple pie. MIND AND STOMACH, BLOWN. Once The Flying Monkey Patisserie in Philadelphia seals it with a vanilla buttercream frosting, it’s ready to serve.
4. The Dentist Disaster
Coldrock is no guilty pleasure compared to this ten scoop ice-cream sundae! Blended with Snickers and Milky Way bars and topped with hot chocolate fudge and a ton of whipped cream, this takes dessert to a whole new level. 4,700 calories later and you’ll be bouncing off walls from the sugar.
This is basically just a fancy word for chips and gravy with some cheese thrown in there. But 500g each of these three ingredients amounts to a not-so-tiny 2,500 calories.
6. Mac Daddy
Feeling guilty about the ham and cheese toastie you had for lunch? Well, it’s not half as bad as the ‘Mac Daddy’ – a macaroni cheese and bacon-stuffed toasted sandwich available at The Melt in San Francisco. Devouring this toastie will cost you 1,306 calories and probably all the physical activity you did that week.
7. Chocolate Oreo Milkshake
When you’ve finished your slice of cake, why not wash it down with a Chocolate Oreo Milkshake? The large size at Baskin-Robbins in America adds up to 2,600 calories. THIS is why you should count drinks as part of your daily calorie intake!
8. Chocolate pizza from Max Brenner
Regular pizza isn’t the best thing for your waistline (if you eat it on the regular), but this dessert pizza from the ‘chocolate man’ topped with melted chocolate, mini marshmallows and caramelised nuts is next level. At least they give you the choice to swap nuts for banana slices. #healthyoption.
9. Mega Mel Burger
Everybody loves a cheeseburger, so the next time you’re lining up to get one, feel free to ditch the guilt now that you know the Mega Mel Burger exists. Made up of 600g ground beef, 500g bacon, 115g cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles and a bun – it may not sound huge, but it’s about the size of your forearm and 4,556 calories. Compare this to a standard 282-calorie cheeseburger, and you’re doing alright.
10. Deep-fried Oreos
There are 40 calories in a regular Oreo, but deep-fry it, and that number skyrockets to 178 calories. We say twist, lick and dunk as much as you want - as long as you’re not dipping it into a large vat of oil...
11. Bacon milkshake
Yes, this is a thing - but it’ll cost the average woman over half her recommended daily intake. 40 grams of fat and 75 grams of sugar, anyone? Oh, and you guessed it - it’s only in America.
In Georgia, a ‘traditional’ meal doesn’t mean meat and veg, nor a lamb roast. Nope, it’s a bread boat filled with melted cheese, laden with butter and topped with a fried egg. Who wants to eat cheese with a spoon?
Have you tried any of the above foods? What’s the naughtiest thing you’ve ever eaten?
