Get your detox down-pat

If bh’s Deb and I have one thing in common (besides beauty of course!), it’s that we like our food. Okay, we love our food.
So when it comes to getting a health kick, it’s always straight to the treadmill for us, because we’ll be damned if we pass up that creamy pasta for lunch, or that piece of chocolate birthday cake that hangs around, all delicious-looking on the treats table at work.
But as the last silly season came to an end, it dawned on me that my body was in need of a bit more than exercise – I was in a dire need of a detox. I felt bloated and blocked up, and I needed a thorough cleanse, stat. Luckily, that happened to also be around the time when the people at Skinny Mini got in touch with me and I decided that I’d take part in a 5-day detox program – one that I could handle of course.
What’s great about this particular detox, is that it’s not just a three-juices-a-day-and-that’s-it kind of deal. You still get to eat proper food, but the juices involved are designed to help you digest the food (which is suggested for consumption in the accompanying guide book) and in turn, make you feel lighter and less bloated.
The juices came in powder form and had to be mixed with water, and my instructions were to drink one three times a day before each meal in order to make me feel fuller for longer, so i wouldn’t binge eat. And I have to say, the juices weren’t half bad – they smelled fruity and I didn’t mind drinking them at all. They weren’t nearly as bad as some of the other detox drinks you have to stomach in place of food! (I’m clearly not cut out for that!)
At the conclusion of the five days, I did indeed find I was eating less throughout the day, my grazing had almost come to a complete halt, and my bloated festive season feeling had vanished. I strongly recommend the Skinny Mini diet when you’re in need of a thorough cleansing and want to beat the bloat!
What kind of detox would you be willing to try?

no, would never do this kind of detox. Powders of any kind are big no no for my body. Only fresh raw fruit and veg

I do not need detox as I do eat very healthy, and my system is doing its job perfectly. Can not get ill at all, not even common cold. I think it is only needed by people who are getting ill often, which means they need a boost of their immune system and help body to get rid of crap easier.

Like Jenniqua I'm on a lot of nasty Medications and I too am not able to try these detox diets. I do 4 weekly blood tests to make sure my liver isn't dying. I am envious of other being able to do this but at the same time I wish you all good luck as it is great for the body and skin.Go for it Beauties.

I've been wanting to get a colonic for ages! I will probably have one in 'dry july'. Here is the link to view a cleansing product I regulary use: http://www.australiansportsnutrition.com.au/shop/product_categories.php?Maingroup=SOG-3 It's a fantastic colon cleanser - http://www.sog-3.biz/ As per their site - Approximately 90% of all disease and discomfort is related to an unclean colon. The SOG-3 is great, eliminates bloating I have more energy, sleep slightly better (I have diagnosed insomnia) helps with skin etc. Highly recommend it as their is no having to go without food etc, you just drink it daily. Def helps to be eating well and exercising as otherwise there is no point!

I detox once or twice every year. Sometimes I use kits, sometimes I just do it through a clean eating plan and drinking lots of herbal tea, water with lemon etc.

I wouldnt mind trying a detox again, i did see skinimini at the chemist warehouse the other day and wondered what it was like. The last one i tried was the blackmores detox and i lasted 3 days :-( I hav a really sensitive stomach that doesnt take much to upset it and bloating is always an issue for me.

Maybe doing some fresh fruit and vege juices, or just eating them and cutting out sugar and other bad stuff. I wouldn't want to go to extreme. I once existing on that 'lemonade' consisting of lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper. By the end of the first day I felt nauseous and couldn't stomach one more spoonful of syrup as the flavour started to make my stomach turn. Even worse was drinking the salt, it made me gag and I couldn't get it down.

Unfortunately I cannot do detox's as I am on a lot of medication and that interferes with it. The Skinni mini detox sounds great though. Good luck to all the lovely ladies who try it.

I'd be willing to try a detox that was for general health but not one to lose weight because I've got a fast metabolisim and don't need to lose any weight. Skin detox's really interest me because I love it when my skin is clear!
