Much to love about soap
There’s something so pretty about a block of soap. Now before you start wondering how I can find a plain old beige/white/baby pink square visually attractive, I should probably clarify that I’m actually talking about the wrapping that it comes in.
It might be because the manufacturers know that the aforementioned ‘plain Jane’ squares are so, well…boring, that they go to great lengths to make the packaging so pretty. And I, for one, am a sucker for it.
Forget using the soap – my favourite soaps adorn the side of my bath, the window ledge above my kitchen sink – even the corner of my dresser (which clearly has no sink and tap nearby).
Right now the prettiest soaps to land on my desk are the latest in the Crabtree & Evelyn Heritage Soap Collection. In addition to the yummy-smelling variants already available (think Vetiver, Crabapple and Mulberry, and Oatmeal and Wheatgerm), the latest in the line include Almond Milk and Honey, Avocado and Olive Oil, and Black Sea Mud and Seaweed.
Absolutely beautifully wrapped in paper that reflects the key ingredients in the soaps, the soaps themselves are also triple-milled and enriched with nourishing oils to ensure that your skin stays soft and supple.
Which actually poses a bit of a problem for me – I really want to use them for their skin nourishing benefits, but once unwrapped, I can’t go back…
