Become a skin checker this summer
Before you head out and enjoy the summer sun, (and maybe try out these amazing summer beauty looks), there’s one more thing we wanted to remind you all about.
As part of the beautyheaven community, we know you’re all excellent at applying your sunscreen and keeping your skin protected and healthy - but unfortunately, melanoma is still the fourth most common cancer in Australia.*
But what’s different about this type of cancer, is that it’s the only one visible to the naked eye. Which means that if you’re willing to learn how to check your skin (and the skin of your loved ones), early detection is very much possible.
As a brand dedicated to ongoing sun-safe behaviour and education, La Roche-Posay created the ‘SKIN CHECKER’ campaign and are encouraging people all over the world to learn how to recognise melanomas, spreading the message through super cute videos like this one.
If you’d like to become a skin checker, you can head here to download the ABCDE method (approved and used by dermatologists worldwide) to help you monitor any changes in your moles.
90 per cent of melanomas detected on time can be treated successfully**, so learning how to recognise them could make the world of difference.
And of course, don't forget to apply sunscreen from top-to-toe.
