My top beauty tips
Scherri-Lee Biggs, 20-year-old communications student from Perth, was recently crowned Miss Universe Australia – and with that gorgeous smile, killer body and a head of hair that most girls would die for, we’re not exactly surprised.
But what’s her secret? Besides her obviously awesome genes, Biggs also has a few beauty tricks and tips up her sleeve that she was happy to share with us…
1.) Keep it natural and work with what you’ve got. Less is always more!
2.) A fresh complexion is perfect for every occasion. The Nude by Nature Natural Mineral Cover helps keep your look fresh all day and looks just like your skin. The trick is to use a primer first, which extends the life of your coverage.
3.) Contour your facial curves. Shape your face with a bronzer and use a highlighter to bring forward key features, such as your cheekbones.
4.) To achieve a little extra bang for a nighttime look, it’s so important to ensure that your make-up doesn’t look caked on. The great thing about natural products is that you can build up your coverage without it caking, which makes turning up the night look is easy.
5.) Multi-task! I’m often pressed for time so I work with make-up products that can have multiple uses. For example, I often use a bronzer to contour and correct my cheekbones and also use it as an eye shadow too! Try: Nude by Nature Mineral Bronzer.
6.) My skin can sometimes look oily with high shine so to keep my make-up stable and avoid smudging I use a finishing veil.
7.) Sweat it up! Exercise is essential to not only look great but to eliminate toxins from the body. “Look good, feel great”, as they say! I love to run (but without people watching!) so I often go for trail runs.
8.) Defining your brows is a must to get that polished look. The darkest colour in the eye palette smudged through the brow does wonders!
9.) Do your hair first and complement it with your make-up. If you pull your hair back make your eyeliner follow the upward flow of the face, but if your hair is down, smudge your eyeliner out for that sultry look.
10.) Look after yourself! Drink water. Eat lots of leafy greens (my secret tip is Chlorophyll – it’s great for your skin and general health!) I love Pilates as well. And just relax. Life meant for living, so get out and enjoy!
