The body part that's getting bigger
A UK study has found our feet are getting bigger, resulting in many of us wearing shoes that don’t fit properly.
The survey, involving 2,000 adults, found that our foot size has increased by two sizes since the 1970s. Despite this, more than a third of men and nearly half of women were squeezing their hoofs into too-small shoes.
Speaking to The Wall Street Journal, consulting podiatrist for the College of Podiatry Emma Supple said she believes the findings apply outside the UK as well. "We've all gotten taller and we need big feet to hold us up," she says.
When it comes to cramming feet into ill-fitting shoes, women are often the worst culprits. To find out how to make them more comfortable, check out our blog on how to make uncomfortable heels more wearable.
