How-to: get your feet ready for winter
You’ve probably had your toes out all summer in gorgeous, bejewelled sandals and thongs but as the weather starts cooling down, those little piggies start hiding inside thick socks or in woolly Uggs. So how do you make sure your smooth summery feet stay soft all winter? Glad you asked!
In winter, we tend to roast in front of heaters and under layers and layers of doonas. And what’s all this doing for your skin? Yep, you got it – drying it out!
We’re inclined to neglect our feet in winter purely because they’re hidden away but come springtime we all go into a mad panic trying to get our feet sandal-ready for the warmer weather.
Well we’re making a pledge this winter to keep looking after our feet so we’re ready whenever that warm snap hits! If you’re in, here’s what you need to do:
1.) Every two weeks (or every week if you’re super keen) set aside an hour to give yourself a foot spa.
2.) Fill a big bowl with warm water and add a few of our favourite essential oils or a specialist softening foot soak (our current favourite is home-grown Billie Goat Soap Peppermint Foot Soak) and relax for 10 minutes.
3.) Using a pumice or foot file, get rid of any dead skin concentrating in particular on the balls and heels of your feet.
4.) Rinse and finish with a super-rich, foot cream. If your tootsies are especially dry, apply the cream in a thick layer and then put on a pair of socks and leave for 10-15 minutes.
5.) Enjoy your gorgeously, soft feet!
