Hi, I'm looking at purchasing a hair removal device but I'm not sure which one yet. I want one that can do the hair on my face and also legs. I'm open to all suggestions. Thank you
There are a few articles on here & also reviews. I'd go to the shaver shop and check them out they have quite a few and some have 60-90 day money back guarantees as well.
Hi Ab.Cam.84, with the various devices I've used I still ended up back at good ole waxing.
Hi GeeJ, I would do waxing but I have nerve damage and can't feel my legs. The problem with that is I can't tell if the wax is too hot or how the strip is removed.
Sorry to hear that. Hope you find a device that works. If not, I've had great success with the waxing strips you just pull apart and apply.
This is my favourite
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll check it out.
Hi there Ab.Cam.84,
The silk epil is amazing.
I would caution against using any at home IPL/laser devices.
I have PCOS so understanding the struggle!
Depending on where you live, universities that offer dermal science courses often have clinics attached to them where students are supervised performing various procedures.
The cost is significantly cheaper and much much safer than going to a beauty salon.
In Victoria, we have the Victoria University Dermal Clinic.
I hope this helps and good luck finding a treatment that works.
I purchased an epilator from the shaver shop about a year ago on sale and I dont think it was worth the money for me. I got the braun silk epil that can go in the shower and while i feel like its a good product, I got red bumps and ingrowns everywhere everytime I used it. My advice would be to save up and invest in laser hair removal, its honestly one of the best things I've ever done and I could not recommend it more. Often many laser places have massive sales and you can get it done for 50-70% off. If however you don't have the money, this is the one I bought- https://www.shavershop.com.au/braun/silk-epil-7-wet%2Fdry-epilator-%26-hair-removal-system-with-6-extras--008743.html
but I would just be cautious if you are prone to ingrowns
I'm really hesitant to do laser as I have nerve damage and can't feel my legs, so I won't know if there's anything I should be worried about.
Not sure if you've already purchased a device or not but I just wanted to say, I had laser hair removal and the laser should not be hot enough to burn your skin unless you've been out in excessive sunlight in the two weeks preceding your treatment.
If you are thinking about laser hair removal and not sure what to expect, talk to a dermatologist, they should be able to help you.
Nothing beats a good quality ladies razor for your legs. Cheap and effective. As for you face it would depend if it's peach fuzz or hormonal hair growth. Cold wax strips, threading or a Veet Sensitive Precision Beauty Styler are all worth a try.
I currently use a cream hair removal product for my legs but I wished the would last longer. My facial hair has gotten thicker and darker in the past two years because of vitamin deficiencies that I suffered from. I'm trying a cream hair removal for my face.
I have the Braun 7 & 9. I prefer the 9 because it has a wider surface area for the legs. The 7 is $149 and the 9 is $199 (at the shaver shop), only other difference I've noticed is that the 9 has an attachable cleanser brush instead of a seperate one.
Both can be used underwater (this was SUPER important when I first started epilating). If you have always been a shaver then the first few times you epilate will hurt (it did for me anyway).
Thanks for your suggestions, I'll have a look at them in store. I'm not too worried about the pain as I don't feel my legs.
Hi, i have used epilators for years and never have any problems. My first epilator was from Philips. It worked really well for years (>5-7 years). I only replace it because the newer versions are cordless and worked on wet surfaces.
My second epilator is still a Philips. Then i received a Braun silk epi 9 as a gift and this is what i use now.
I also suggest visiting the shaver shop where the sales person can show you a few different products. When first starting epilating, it can feel quite painful. You get used to the feeling after a while. Some people do get prone to ingrown hair with epilating, so scrubbing and exfoliating the skin regularly helps.
If you are not sure, there is also a painless infrared hair remover called No!no! which burns your hair. I find it not as effective as epilating and it leaves small burnt out hair on the skin that requires buffing away. However this device certainly doesn't cause pain or ingrown hair.
Thanks for your suggestions. I'll definitely check these out. I'm not sure about the infrared system as I have nerve damage and can't feel my legs. The problem with that is I can't tell if it is too hot or if I'm burning skin.
I switched to epilator from waxing. I find that epilator makes my life easier, no more waxing mess. I have the basic braun silk epil 5 (bought from shavershop, can't remember the price though). It works wonder for me.
For long lasting hair removal on your legs use an epilator. For a day or two after you first epilate you may have red spots on your skin where your hair follicles are but your skin will get used to it and after a few uses your skin won't react at all! Personally, I use a Braun Silk Epil because I have mild nerve damage on my legs so waxing isn't the safest option for me. I hope this helps!
I would not use a shaver on my face, I do on my legs though.

I have this bottle sitting at my desk at work. I more of use it as a refreshing scent. It kind of awakens my mind and gets the thinking power going.
When I bought this essential oil , I more of was expecting the scent of fresh ginger.
Thank you Beautyheaven and Harmony for providing me with the MyBeauty beauty powder to trial.
