Is it just me or are all the celebrities getting thinner and normaly people getting larger, why is this?
I think celebrities work hard to get their body in shape (well, those that do. XD) -- and those in the public eye often enough probably have the finances to do it too.
I agree, however, that health is infinitely more important than what size of clothes you wear. That said, different bodies have different requirements, are built differently etc etc. As long as you're healthy and active, look good, feel comfortable, I think things should be fine. :)
it's pretty important to remember that some women - i'm not talking celebs here - but general every day females are really petite and what is unfair is that they get skinny bashed. i know some girls who have tried desperately to gain weight and can't and they look painfully thin without punishing themselves with silly diets and gruelling exercise regimes.
women are the worst judges of ourselves and each other. i think we should all stop judging.
So true Princess, my mum was so skinny for ever, then she was diagnosed with Coeliac's disease, got her health sorted out and she has now gained about 6 kilos and she is so pleased. Like we've all said before - the emphasis should be on being healthy - whether that is slim or with few extra kilos or anything in between.
yeah everyones different, just be confident with what you've got, its more than most.
and what makes it worse is that people who are naturally skinny are becoming victims too. people have been telling me lately i need to put on weight and look after myself better. NOT EVERYONE STARVES THEMSELVES TO BE A SIZE 6! i think the first thing people should look at before they comment on a persons weight is if there are any telltale bones sticking out like ribs. if a girl has got a belly on her thats more than enough proof they're not underweight. just because the majority of the world is overweight it doesn't mean that they can look down on the people that are underweight when obesity is the more threatening problem these days! GIRLS, WORRY ABOUT YOUR OWN WEIGHT INSTEAD OF PUTTING OTHER PEOPLE DOWN FOR THEIRS.... we cant all be perfect :-)
I'm also naturally skinny and so is my mum. Hearing the phrase "You need to put some meat on those bones" gets irritating after awhile. I eat well but have a fast metabolism.
Also regarding skinny celebrities, yes they are role models that young girls look up to so it's important for them to set a good example with having a healthy body weight, but I also think being in the public eyes places then under a lot of pressure to look 'perfect'. Society has particular ideals about what is 'beautiful' so I think it creates a kind of cycle - society places pressure on celebrities to be slim and beautiful, slim celebrities then provide young girls with unrealistic body images and the cycle continues. The media also plays a huge role in this.
I think the solution is just to look after yourself and be happy in your own skin, although I think this is also often easier said than done.
Also, what exactly does "looking normal" mean?? To me this means being comfortable with your own body and not succumbing to other people's expectations of how you should look. Isn't looking "normal" then different for everyone? Ie. there's no such thing as normal =/
yeah, no one talks about the people who get skinny bashed! its always about people who are abused for being larger, some skinny people suffer numerous forms of bullying from people around them and general public because of their weight when majority are naturally that way! its a neverending topic and people are always going to have extrmely different opinions lol.
i blame the art of airbrushing. I've seen quite a few before and after photos on the net featuring models etc. the way they get retouched makes them seem skinny, and refinishing the appearance of their skin makes their bodies seem toned, even when they have cellulite.
their stylists have become very sneaky at dressing them to look slim too.
and celebrities can get sneaky lipo at the drop of a hat too.
it seems ironic that the richer you are, the less food you eat! if i had the income to match hollywood's top earners, i would enjoy the high life, and devour every delicacy known to man!
I remember a lady at my old workplace who is Sz6. She says it's mostly because of the crap she has to put up with in her life - I'll just summarise it as a broken home with her the bread winner.
Some people can't help it- genes or environment they live in, not just a fashion trend they get on board.
