Korean makeup & skincare - my experiences and please share yours!
The list below is my personal experience with Korean brand makeup and beauty products. I've been converted for about 3 years when I picked some up overseas while in Asia and hooked ever since!
Please share your experiences and brands - I've only touched on a few! Some general notes I'll start with:
Skincare – oil cleansers, solid oil balms, essences, ampoules, serums, confused? Read this helpful board on Reddit, it explains all the steps for Asian skincare and also some ingredients to look out for https://www.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/comments/2jcss2/asian_skincare_101_a_beginners_guide_faq/
Looking for trusted online sellers? check out this list on Reddit of trusted sellers people are purchasing through. https://www.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/comments/290to0/giant_list_of_websites_ebayers_etc/
also thanks to Preciousia this site also analyzes products and gives you a breakdown of ingredients: http://www.cosdna.com/
Asian Beauty Reddit is another board I stalk on a regular basis, it's pretty helpful https://www.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/
edit to add I just tidied up the first post as I was getting tired scrolling past that long one lol

Regular buyer for a long time.
Im stuck buying this product literally. I used it when my children were babies and now there a bit older and understand they no bath, cream, then bed. No cream = no bed for 3 very angry toddlers.
Smooth cream that doesn’t feel too heavy
This moisturiser has a lovely smooth texture and glides onto my skin beautifully. I found it left my skin feeling soft and supple and it also wears well under makeup.
Goodness in a Jar
After more than a week of using Pro X by Olay Anti Aging Wrinkle Smoothing Cream I can really say that the I ❤️ the product;

I was so excited to see this brand join Mecca as I've been itching to try the Watermelon Sleeping Mask (even though it does contain a couple of ingredients that could cause irritation for me) & the Blueberry Bounce Cleanser. I'll test first, then consider picking them up in the States later this year.
I want to try that too! But I checked Mecca this am and I didn't see the sleeping mask yet :( hopefully, it comes soon!!
Just ducked into Mecca Maxima at Miranda this afternoon & they had Glow Recipe stuff in stock. Grabbed a sample each of the Sleeping Mask & the Blueberry Bounce cleanser. Don't know if the SA was all that happy about me asking for a sample; but given how sensitive my skin is, I'd prefer to test first & (maybe) buy later. (Also had makeup on, so wasn't going to take it off.)
I tried out the Sleeping Mask last night just as a 10 minute mask and........meh.
Good points? It smells divine. I also didn't immediately react to it, which is a major bonus given how fussy my skin can be with stuff like acids & anti-aging vitamins. I did experience a warming sensation on my face, but it was only fairly minor.
Bad points? Um, the fact that it didn't really do anything in terms of either exfoliation or plumping. I'm going to try it as an overnight mask next to see if it will actually work better for me (my sample was quite generous; there's enough in there for 2 uses), but right now I'm inclined to think that the Sleeping Mask is (a) way overhyped & (b) a real letdown. I guess I expect more from my masks these days than just sitting on my face & smelling nice.
I don't know why I'm only reading your feedback on the sleeping mask now. Your feedback is interesting - do the instructions on the sleeping mask say to only leave it on for 10 mins or you decided to leave it on for 10 mins? Generally, sleeping masks are not wash-off masks in the sense that you only leave it on your face for a few minutes, you're meant to apply them as the last step in your routine, kinda treat it like a cream, and go to bed with it on. You actually shouldn't wash them off until the next day - they are intended to be an intense overnight treatment. Have you since left it on overnight?
According to the Mecca website (where I got my info from), the instructions say to "rinse with lukewarm water after 10 minutes" if you're using it as a wash off mask.
I haven't left it on as an overnight mask yet as I'm trying to wait & see if my eczema will go away once humidity levels rise (which it often does - I'm just prone to eczema during winter due to how dry the air is etc). I don't want to do anything that's going to upset my skin; although I have been using a lactic acid peel on the rest of my face twice a week, avoiding the areas where I'm red & flaky.
I am also experiencing eczema this winter. I have had to resort to corticosteroid. :(
Have had to resort to hydrocortisone cream myself. Normally I just get it on my legs, but this year it's attacking my face & my hands as well as a small part of my leg. The leg has pretty much cleared up and my face has for the most part, but my hands won't. It sucks doesn't it? :o(
This is so exciting! Pineapple serum is even more exciting! Definitely looking forward to it!
OMG
INNISFREE has been listed on BH
https://www.beautyheaven.com.au/skin-care/brand/innisfree
I got so excited but see they don't have the product I'm using listed so can't review :(
OK I'm excited now. I've been using a lot of their green tea range. Yessssssss
Ooh awesome!!! Only used a couple of their masks but really like what I've tried so far. Good to see they have joined =)
Truly OMG. I LOVE their products too! The Innisfree Cafe at their Myeongdong (Seoul) flagship store is just awesome <3
Mini haul, but wow JOLSE are super generous with their samples!
Omg omg...you got Some By Mi Vit C goodies (since you mentioned the serum on the other thread I popped it on my wishlist. B3 and VitC together, my melazmic skin needs. Because this year is my destash-all-skincare-idle-no-buy year, I am creating the list of the best of the best for upcoming year)! Stalking the products updates. What is that beta glucan thingy? Do we need it? =D
Edit: just went to check ing %es. In the serum VitC comes at 3% or 30 000 ppm. So B3 even less. I guess this is a god all rounder for maintaining healthy skin.
yes I don't need high vit c as no formulation I have tried plays nice with my makeup, they all cause pilling :( But happy to say my skin has zero issues anymore except maintaining hydration, no other issues I'm dealing with now and glad to be just at the maintenance phase.
The Beta Glucan is because I can't tolerate HA and the Iunik is my second bottle and will continue buy as the Iunik ingredients list is better compared to Inkey List so I'll stick with that.
(Iunik) $21 AUD for 50ml including postage
Beta-glucan and Sodium PCA
(Inkey List PGA) only 30mls for 12.99 British Pounds
Aqua (Water), Dimethicone, Butylene Glycol, Bis-PEG-12 Dimethicone, Glycerin, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Polysilicone-11, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Isohexadecane, Propanediol, Coco-Glucoside, Sodium Benzoate, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Polysorbate 80, Ethylhexylglycerin, Potassium Sorbate, Decyl Glucoside, Dimethylacrylamide/Acrylic Acid/Polystyrene Ethyl Methacrylate Copolymer, Sorbitan Oleate, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Polyglutamic Acid, Caprylyl Glycol, Hexylene Glycol, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Extract
Oh, so HA alternative! But more potent
Yea, I am not a fan of Inkey List and will not support. The Ordinary has better packaging, ingredients and prices for same things they tried to copy. They don't have Beta glucan, but I am fine with hyaluronic in any formulation of theirs or others. Still, will keep my eye on the compound.
Hi duality, I agree Jolse are very generous with their samples. I received the same samples during my recent mini haul. I picked up couple of Lador products as per your recommendation along with Missha Essence which was always on my wishlist.
I've got some of the blotting paper to use. Plus the Vital Treatment. I got stung with a whitening cream, thinking this will be okay. Not realising it was going to make my face all white. Lucky I hadn't left the house yet. I washed it off.
I'm not sure when they started selling these but Priceline is selling Cremorlab and the sheet masks are currently half price.
Hi ladies! I am new to Korean cosmetics but love it so far very much. I’ve read in previous reviews about Mizon activator mist but have a hard time finding it online. Would you please post the picture of it or the name of it as on a bottle? I really want t try it :) Thank you!
It sounds like the Mizon Correct Essential Activator Mist, but I have not seen it sold anywhere available to ship to Australia.
Also, if the reviews you read are from several years ago, this product might have since been discontinued.
Why are you keen on this particular mist? In other words, why is this particular mist of particular interest to you? I might be able to recommend something comparable.
Has anyone used Cloud 9 Magic Cleanser? I had a sample. It was so much fun to use. It foamed up, fizzed and expanded. It was like a foamy cloud on my skin. I would use it again in a heartbeat.
Looks cool, where did you buy that from please?
