GHD Oracle Review: The new hair tool that took six years to make

Renowned brand GHD (which stands for Good Hair Day, in case you were wondering) who are known and loved for their iconic hair straighteners, have just released their latest hair tool – ‘The Oracle’.
Having taken 6 years to create and come to fruition, GHD’s 1st professional curler promises to create “endless curls” with “just one glide.” Made with 4 ceramic plates, an optimum styling temperature of 185 degrees Celsius and featuring both the “styling power of heat and setting effect of cooling”, The Oracle is designed for all hair-types with “curl-zone technology” to give you every style of curl your heart (and hair) desires from ‘beachy waves’ to ‘red carpet’ curls.

We were lucky enough to be invited to the launch to see, feel and trial the Oracle for ourselves, and here’s what we thought…
I’m a huge fan of the brand. I’ve had my GHD straightener for years. I use it pretty much every day (to both straighten and wave my hair) and I’ve dropped it more times than I care to remember. It’s been like my imaginary best friend accompanying me through the many stages of my hair journey/life (no, really. Break ups, nights out, saving my frizz on European holidays) and it’s still going strong. So, I was excited to trial their new curling tool.
Upon arrival we each had a professional hairdresser give us a demonstration first. This was because of the elaborate technology behind it, as it can seem a little daunting to use at first glance.

If you watched our Instagram stories earlier this week, you would have seen that I asked for “beachy waves” (If you didn’t, then what were you doing? GOT is over guys, time to start watching our fun Insta-Stories!). After our professional lesson, the curling baton was passed on to us to try ourselves…
I must admit, it did take some getting used to, but after a couple of tries, I was able to master the trick that worked for my hair. Plus, the fact that I walked in with greasy hair, and it STILL managed to deliver these cool waves, well that’s definitely something worth noting!
The new GHD Oracle does come with a higher price tag, so it may not be everyone’s cup of tea. However, we recommend this for anyone who loves styling their hair in waves or in different variations of curls. This is also a great tool for all those hairdressers and hair stylists out there who would definitely get plenty of use out of the curling tool for their clients (especially for weddings when styling big groups).
The new GHD Oracle retails at $340 and you can find the exclusive partner salons they are stocked at here.

I like most multitasking tools. So prefer their platinum styler that can do waves, curls and iron things. I do have also crimper though. Look, would not mind all gadgets invented out there haha

The hair straightener does sound like a great hair tool. I would have to save for a long while to purchase one.

This looks so easy. im hopeless with hair tools though, so I would really want to try it somewhere and see if I could use it and get the results before I invested that kind of money.

Yes, will have to wait until it drops from $340 first. I still have a Dyson hairdryer on my want to buy list after years of waiting patiently.

I had no idea GHD meant Good Hair Day. Is this for real, or are you yanking my chain BH? I hope it’s true, I love it.

Omg wow! Is it really as easy as it looks or is there a knack to it? I enjoyed the video demos and I'd be keen to watch a full tutorial :)

I'm a little tempted, however I've heard too much negativity towards GHD that their products don't perform as well as they used to.

The tutorial video makes it look very easy to use. I am always battling with whether I need a GHD when my $30 Remington works like a charm.

I never heat style my hair myself (at the most I'll roughly blow-dry it & that's it, rest of the time I let it air dry), so I'll pass on this one. I wonder what my hairdresser would think of it though.

I would love to see how it would work on my hair but its very doubtful that I would spend that kind of money.

Let's hope there's not a BHD brand!
I've resigned myself to being a wash and dry naturally hair type. These products (straighteners and hair dryers) wreck my naturally curly hair.
