Luxury hair products that are worth the splurge

Buying luxury hair products, or luxury beauty products in general, can feel like a real treat – especially if it’s not something you do on the regular. But when you’re shelling out all that coin on a product that’s claiming to provide a luxe experience, you also expect it to perform. And that’s the hardest thing about spending money on expensive beauty products – it’s only worth it if they work! But how do you know what works and what doesn’t?

I’m here to help. After trying and testing countless luxury beauty products over the years (I know, I’m practically a saint for putting myself through all that hardship), I’ve got a good idea about the products that actually justify a splurge.
And don’t think that I’d recommend splashing cash on products just for the sake of it – I’m hella discerning when it comes to luxury beauty, especially when it comes to putting things on my hair and scalp (it’s just as important as your skin!). So here it is, my edit of the best luxury hair care products on the market that are actually worth the money.
Shu Uemura Art of Hair Color Lustre Brilliant Glaze Shampoo

Got coloured hair? This is the shampoo to keep it looking salon-level-vibrant. It works to purify the hair while also respecting the balance of the scalp.
Mason Pearson Handy Pure Bristle

Yes it’s pricey but this brush can do so much for your hair! The bristles help to distrubute your hair’s natural oils evenly throughout your hair shaft as well as sweeping your scalp, clearing it of any unwelcome dandruff, dirt or debris.
Kérastase Discipline Maskertine

Hair feeling crappy? This deep conditioning treatment is what you need, especially if you have thick or seriously damaged strands.
Oribe Dry Texturising Spray

An essential on every beauty editor’s bathroom shelf, this spray has got it all – it smells amazing, it’s generous in size and it gives the hair that effortless, ‘I woke up like this’ vibe.
Oribe Dry Texturising Spray, $63, adorebeauty.com.au
Balmain Paris Session Spray Medium

A new contender but a really good one, this hair spray provides the perfect amount of hold while still maintaining the hair’s elasticity and moveability – not a stiff strand in sight!
Balmain Paris Session Spray Medium, $46, balmainhaircouture.com.au
Aveda Invati Advanced™ Thickening Conditioner

This conditioner is no joke – it works instantly to make your locks look and feel fatter, with fullness that lasts all day.
ghd platinum+ hair straightener

The world’s first smart hair straightener that predicts your hair’s styling needs is well worth the money. Infinity sensors monitor the heat 250 times per second, to always maintain the safer-for-hair temperature of 185°C.
David Mallett Gold Dust

Applied to your roots, this powder will turn the volume of your hair up to 11. The formula also contains a hint of glisten to give your hair that enviable shine.
David Mallett Gold Dust, $99.53, david-mallett.com.au
Jo Malone London Lime Basil & Mandarin Shampoo

This shampoo is one for you or your man which means it’s double the value, really! The formula is derived from natural silk and works to gently treat the hair, while leaving a gloss and subtle scent.
Kiehl's Magic Elixir Hair Restructuring Concentrate

Give your scalp and your strands some love with this treatment, which is packed full with rosemary leaf, avocado oil, safflower seed oil and aloe to nourish the scalp and seal the cuticle.
Hair Rituel by Sisley Paris Revitalising Fortifying Serum

It’s exxy but I promise this scalp serum is what your hair’s been missing! Think of it like a high-end face cream, but for your scalp. It soothes the scalp while simultaneously working to strengthen the hair. Your hair will never feel the same!
Hair Rituel by Sisley Paris Revitalising Fortifying Serum, $240, davidjones.com.au
Jurlique Lavender Conditioner

If you’re not one for heavy conditioners, this conditioner will be your new favourite. It’s light and milky but doesn’t skimp on the hydration factor for your hair. Plus, who doesn’t love lavender?!
VS Sassoon Digital Sensor Hairdryer

An investment for sure, but this digital hair dryer is special – it maintains the optimal hair drying temperature of 70 degrees, ensuring that you aren’t exposing your hair fibre to unnecessary damage.
Christophe Robin Regenerating Mask with Rare Prickly Pear Seed Oil

Run your hand through your hair after you’ve used this, and I swear you’ll have never felt anything so silky smooth in your entire life. This mask is that good! It restructures and reinforces the hair from deep within.

I also can't understand the hair straightener costing $340.00 as there are many good options though the very frequent heat adjustment certainly is a bonus to prevent damaging hair while applying heat to straighten. Yes I could be convinced on this.
Good shampoos and conditioners are understandable and I also will use the better ones, but not every day.
Oh, to have a very healthy bank account to afford the high end hair care products to maintain beautiful healthy hair. Or just look after yourself with a healthy diet and lifestyle.
