6 ways to hide grey roots

Greys are glorious. They mean you’re getting older and wiser (and not to brag but I scored them in my early twenties). We’re all about flaunting greys but know a lot of men and women prefer to hide them.

So if you’re someone who wants to wear your hair grey – go for gold! But if you’d prefer some sneaky solutions for covering them up, read on...
#1 Change your part
Only have greys in your centre part? Flip it! It's your quickest fix and it can completely change up your look!
#2 Use a dark dry shampoo
Chances are you’re spraying your dirty locks with dry shampoo anyway! Kill two birds with one stone and hide some of your greys while freshening up your ‘do. beautyheaven loves Batiste Dry Shampoo - Coloured and Klorane Dry Shampoo with Nettle Tinted.
#3 Apply a root concealer
In an ideal world, we’d be having very regular trips to the hair salon. But, as we all know, this isn’t an ideal world. We’re all busy and getting your hair did can sometimes cost a motza. So between appointments, it’s best to use a root concealer like the 1000 Hour Hair Colour Root Cover-Up, L’Oréal Paris Magic Retouch - Instant Root Concealer Spray, Toppik Hairbuilding Fibres, ModelCo HAIR MASCARA and Clairol Nice'n Easy Root Touch Up. And for the men, there are even brush-in gels to groom away grey hairs in moustaches and beards! beautyheaven loves the Just For Men Moustache & Beard.
#4 Go for a textured hairstyle
If you add a volumising product, like the Moroccanoil Root Boost or ghd root lift spray, to your roots and then use a curling wand to add messy and voluminous texture, it will distract the eye from your greys.
beautyheaven loves the Remington Keratin & Argan Oil Nourish Conical Tong and muk curl stick 28mm-22mm wedge barrel.
#5 Gradually get some colour
You can work some colour back into grey roots without actually having to head back to the salon. Gradually mask greys with the Restoria Discreet Colour Restoring Shampoo and Goldwell Professional Colorance Soft Color.
#6 Do an at-home dye
You can hold off on heading back to the salon by taking the DIY route. beautyheaven loves the NaturStyle Permanent Hair Colourant, Just For Men Shampoo-in Haircolour and THE SHADE Colour Kit.

Most of my greys are around my temples so when I put my hair up they show. I just started highlighting my hair again to try blend them in LOL

I need something the fill in the gaps in my front hairline that’s waterproof/sweatproof. I hate wearing my hair up because of my uneven hairline but need to for sport.

I began to go grey/white at 18! Yes, 18. In fact I noticed my first one on the 4th morning of my first born. Haha. Hence to say over the years my hair has seen various colours, various styles, various cuts. Have asked various hairdressers to embrace it & actually dye my hair a silver-ish colour but alas none have. Box dye with home foils here I go again.

I started getting a few greys in my mid-20s, now I'm in my early 40s and they're concentrated at my temples and part, and are very obvious as I have dark hair. I just colour them myself at home as they need covering every 4-6 weeks (can't be bothered going to the salon that often). In between colours I use a root concealer.

I have a friend who is actually looking forward to getting grey hair - she thinks it's the most awesome thing. I hope I'll be like her when it happens to me!

Thanks for an article that acknowledges the normal, natural progression to white/grey! So refreshing to read such a positive article about greys that acknowledges that natural is fantastic but covering up is cool too. I have a stripe of grey at the front of my part which I love but not so much the wirey whites. Thanks Ellie!

I generally hide my greys by pulling my hair back in a pony or disguising them with my part. Unfortunately I've got a lot of them on the top part of my head, but luckily they're mostly concentrated near the crown. I've tried the L'Oréal Magic Retouch before but I found it messy tbh.

I found a few grey hair's amongst my hair a while back I just pull them out & now I haven't seen any in a long time :) if I were to come across any more then a few grey hair's I'm heading to the hairdressers to re-do my hair with a new look, problem solved.

I've stopped trying to hide them, after having grey since I was in my 20's I'm embracing silver. Their some good options here though.

My greys don't really show because my hair is such a mix of dark and light blondes.

Cut it at the roots with a pair of scissors while it’s still manageable.
