I’ve been coloring my hair black and dark brown for many years [8 to 10 years]. I’ve been hoping to get rid of all the color in my hair so I can slowly go lighter, my natural hair color is a dark brown. The box was quite pretty [very edgy, shiny silver] and came with the 3 bottles needed to use this product. The instructions were relatively simple, and came in easy to use bottles with applicators [similar to box color dye]. The instructions said to use two bottles for long hair though I found one bottle was enough for my lower back length hair [very long]. The product smelt quite strongly of chemicals but I was expecting this due to the nature of the product. I’m not sure how good it was on product buildup as my hair is already dark brown but it did strip color as I noticed a few grays but had not previously been there before. It left my hair feeling quite soft and not too dry at all, which I was surprised about! My hair reflects a lot of red and the color I have now is a medium brown with red/warm reflects

This is the first time I used this type of color removal for my hair. I usually just leave my colored hair for months until it fades and then I top it up with other color.
Colorless Max is making it easier for everyone by having this product. If you’re not happy with the current color hair you have, you should try it.
It removes almost all the color I have prior to and leave my hair color back to original color.
The packaging is bright silver color and so attractive, easily to differentiate from other hair stuff.
Price is quite ok for my pocket.
I think they can do a little bit better, maybe to make the formula a bit stronger since only 70% off color was washed out and I might need 2nd bottle since I have a long hair.
So my priority is to remove the top hair part first.
So far I’ll recommend you to try it first. It’s not bad!

I was excited to get a chance to trial the Colourless Max Effect hair colour remover. I have been colouring my hair at home using a lot of red hair colours during the last year, so I have been wanting to strip back the stubborn build-up of red colours to a clean slate before proceeding to recolour my hair back to its more natural dark brown shade.

The process contains five steps, to remove the build-up of colour. It involves a few more steps and takes longer than when colouring your hair out of a box, though I found the steps to be very easy to follow. The product does have a rather strong chemical smell, though since it contains no bleach or ammonia, it is not offensive and doesn’t sting my eyes or nose.

My hair was a dark colour with a lot of red that was more visible in the sun/ fluorescent light. This product did a great job of stripping my colour down to a much lighter medium golden orangey brown, without damaging my hair. The box says you can recolour your hair straight away, however since it is already late at night, I can’t wait until tomorrow to put a lighter, more natural golden brown colour into my hair. And I no longer have the red colour which would have made it impossible to colour my hair this shade.

So I have used other products that do the same thing as this product they smelt like rotten eggs.
This product smell so much better easy directions to follow and easy to use this product works well I had hot magenta hair and it has Neutralise it too a cool bluey purple shade also it’s not as bad as I thought it would have been again I didn’t do much to my roots as my roots had nothing on them do think this is great for coloured hair girls and men I think this is better then bleaching your hair with less damaged again I do feel my hair to be a bit dry but again it’s removering pigment so you are going to be dry a little nothing a moisture treatment can’t fix if you are worried about your hair I would buy moisture and a protein treatment as this will make sure you hair is getting the stuff it needs. Also dident get the d bottle also I’m putting a blue shade over my hair so this colour it has left in my hair will be covered over super fast.

After colouring my 1 inch grey roots for the past 15 years, along with biannual full length colours, I was very curious to see just how much build-up this product would remove. As my hair is very long, I had to purchase another box to ensure I had enough coverage, but the very even finish was worth the extra cost.

The packaging itself is very eye-catching, and the instructions are very easy to follow. As I had to work with double the product, I used a hair colouring tub and brush to apply it to my roots instead of the squeeze bottle, because the very hard plastic causes painful cramping due to squeezing it so many times during application.

Because I am an 80s girl, the intense smell reminded me of the perming solution I had to suffer through 4 times a year, so it didn’t bother me too much. I did, however, experience a very strong post-stripping sulfuric smell for a full day after, so be prepared for that.

I was a little confused with how much of bottle C it instructed you to use, as I used a 20 cent piece worth of shampoo, after 3 lathers and rinses - and had only gone through a third of the bottle! There is absolutely no way I could have used any more of this product, as my hair felt like crunchy dry straw after the third rinse, so I am not sure how anyone would require half the bottle for the first rinse and then the other half for the second rinse. My shower would be knee high in suds if I tried to use this much! I definitely think this instruction needs to be amended in the pamphlet!

I was perplexed, however, by the missing D bottle – as it is very clearly labelled as part of the package, so that was a little unusual. So, I used a foam conditioner for the final step, as I felt it coated the hair much better than any liquid conditioner, and tucked it under a shower cap whilst I shaved my bits and bobs. If I had the time, I would also have applied a hair mask and wrapped my hair with a hot towel, as it really was stripped bare.

After drying my hair, I was surprised to see it go from a dark brown to a strawberry blonde/copper tone, as I was expecting it to revert to my original brown hair. The colour was beautifully even, with absolutely no bands of alternating shades to be seen at all, so I am very glad I used two boxes of product. It does indicate you can re-colour your hair on the same day, but I waited 2 days as I was pretty exhausted from the process, and didn’t think two chemical processes in one day would be a good idea at all.

I would definitely recommend applying this product at least once a year, to not only freshen up your hair, but to see just how much grey/natural hair growth you really have. It was interesting to see the before and after pics, as it has been so long since I saw my natural hair colour against the contrast of treated hair.

Following the very light strawberry blonde/copper result I initially saw on the first day of the trial, I decided to wait a week before applying any colour to my grey roots, as my usual 6.0 hair colour would have been far too dark. Surprisingly, after 3 regular washes over the following week, my hair colour deepened to a lustrous auburn/milk chocolate brown shade, which was a very welcome surprise. As a result, I headed off to my local hair warehouse for professional advice for my new shade. They suggested a 7.32, and I am so grateful as it was an absolute perfect match! This trial has completely changed my look, and is a must for every girl who regularly colours her hair! My hair is so much lighter, fresher and has a beautiful, natural shine to it. I hope BH introduce an option to attach photos for future reviews, as I would love to share the before and after transition.

I was so nervous about using this product and I can say that I didn’t quite get back my natural, pre-dye colour back but I am happier after using this. I can see that perhaps after a second application, I might get closer to my original colour. Unfortunatley I didn’t take a before picture as instructed (sorry!!). Results might vary according to your natural and dyed colours but here is my story. I’m a natural medium brunette and I used to dye my hair a lot to hide greys. I’ve spent the last 12mths ‘embracing my greys’ however, before cracking and dyeing my hair a (waaay too dark) shade of brunette about two months ago. It hadn’t really faded much and I wanted to un-do it so this was a good way to try. I found it easy enough to use although time consuming. I’ve read some complaints about the smell. I am pretty much used to smelly dyes so to me, the smell of this was bearable. It is time-intensive, and you really do need to read the instructions carefully and follow them word for word. AND, have faith in the process, no good panicking halfway and throwing in the towel (like I very nearly did). The rinsing needs to be thorough, and I think my hair suffered a bit in that the ends felt quite dry after I was done. The ends of my hair are a little dry anyway and after reading some other reviews of this product, that seems to be a common effect. Otherwise, a good, affordable, 'at home' solution to a bad hair dye.

I've been dying my hair blue-black for a few months. Prior to this I had been dying my hair dark brown for a few years. My natural colour is dark blonde. I want to go back to blonde for the summer. I bought this product from Woolworths for $27. The day of I washed my hair twice to remove all product and buildup, just with shampoo (I had watched youtube videos of this product and they recommended to do this). I did not use conditioner. Mix bottles A & B then apply to all your dry hair. Wrap with cling wrap and set the timer for 45 mins. The product does smell like bad eggs or sulfur but it is bearable. After 45 mins hop in the shower and rinse for 5 mins. Use half bottle C and wash for one min then rinse 5 mins. Repeat with rest of bottle C same thing. Then I put a deep conditioner in for 5 mins. My hair came out a nice shade of medium auburn. I like the colour and am thinking of keeping it for a while before going blonde.

As a hairdresser I’ve been every colour under the sun and my usual snap change is bright red to lavender.
While I normally would use bleach to remove the red I wanted to keep my hair as healthy as I could which meant using this colour stripper.

I had great results from my first application and was able to use a blue fashion colour to counteract any remaining copper tones.
Two weeks later I re did the treatment and was able to remove the stubborn mid length staining without causing hair breakage.

I dyed my black hair twice then coloured it red. After a few months it faded to an attractive orange so I decided to try this to go back to bleached hair.
The instructions were easy to follow and while the wait time was quite long- 45 mins- it was easy enough to preoccupy myself for that time.
After rinsing I used the included shampoo in two lots as instructed and towel dried my hair.
As I was washing it I could see that it was still dark, and while it was wet it still looked quite dark but when it had dried completely I was over the moon to see that it was a dark yellow, which is what my bleached hair looked like.
The smell was really strong, I definitely advise a well ventilated area, but I'm used to dying my hair so it was bearable.
However, I did get wafts of a stench throughout the day, I kept checking my toddlers nappy but it was just my hair! I had to put a shower cap on at night so the stink wouldn't suffocate me.
But again, I thought the results are worth the pong.
However, the next morning I saw that my hair had darkened and the orange tinge had returned.
I don't know if using this again would strip the orange better, but it's not a cheap product and I didn't want to put my hair through another chemical process.
I was very very happy to see my hair did not appear more damaged at all, it was in exactly the same condition after stripping the colour as it was before.
So this was a fantastic product to try, despite the stench. But my hair did darken.
