My boyfriend needs a wax…

Q: I've got a question regarding men's hair products. My boyfriend has been looking for something that doesn't leave his hair and face oily and clogged. He prefers the finish and mouldability of waxes and clays but they always seem to run and block his skin as a result!
Just wondering if there was anything you could recommend that would not run or has the same finish in a different category of product? - Veronica, NSW
A: A matte paste or clay is probably the best option for your boy as they generally have more ‘grit’ and grip, and will stay put for longer.
Joey Scandizzo, Sebastian Professional Design Team Director, recommends using Sebastian Craft Clay, as it’s a gritty, remouldable product that adds a dirty texture to the hair, without melting, or ending halfway down your boyfriends face.
“It’s one of my favourite products because you can apply it one day re-shape it, sleep on it, wet it and wear it a new way the next day,” Scandizzo says. “This product doesn’t go anywhere until you wash it out and gives a really roughed up, natural look to your style.”
If your boyfriend has an oily complexion, the natural oils from his skin may also be mixing with the product on and around his hairline, causing it to be transferred on to his face. To combat this, ensure that he applies majority of his product to the crown of his head, and uses it sparingly around his hairline.

My husband's not too keen on hair products, but maybe I can convince him!

Definately dont use too much, my son has made that mistake before and ended up looking like a greaseball and it was so hard to get it out again too.

Hair clay works well, i've noticed the difference from a mousse or gel to a clay in blokes hair. It really does give it a different feel and texture. Great article bh :)

my boy is very particular about his hair products and I would never be able to get him to use something else. I already have the hardest time trying to get him to moisturise his face, thank goodness he listens when it comes to sunscreen when we go out, but only when I'm with him. On his own, he is hopeless with skincare - it must be a gene cross wired for them to not care like we ladies do.

Hair clay works well for me (I was given a Aveda man pure performance) to use and liked it. Before using that I only ever thought to try mousse and even used to try slick my hair using water. I now know hair Clay (or putty) works much better!

Funny title lol. I always thought hair gel is one of the things that boys will do to keep up their looks..

They're over-rated, and they don't groom themselves. :P
