Having a bad hair day? Find out why...
Think your bad hair is just a random occurrence? An out-of-the-blue annoyance that's probably Karmic retribution?
Well, it seems not. Scientists have found that your bad hair day is actually caused by traces of copper in the water from pipes in your home. The metal slowly builds up in your hair and can increase the damage cause by sunlight. And you know what damaged hair means - split ends, flyways, and frizz.
The more copper in your hair, the more your hair is prone to damage, and the harder it is to manage..
So what's the solution? Well, researchers have found that treating hair with chelants (chemicals used in washing powder) can reduce the effect that copper has on your hair. Some hair companies, such as Proctor & Gamble have utilised these findings and are working on developing dyes and shampoos to neutralise the copper.
