Kate Bosworth's our Coachella hair crush

Kate Bosworth’s already a total hair boss, but now she’s really outdone herself with this unreal boho braid.
The actress, who loves a festival look, stunned onlookers at Coachella with this half-up-half-down, part-bun-part-braid ‘do.
Along with that mind-blowing centre part braid, the reason I love this look is because although Kate has quite fine hair, she’s definitely making the most of it. Obviously, she got the memo that limp hair is trending.

Working the ‘do with an outlandish jacket that’d look completely daggy on us mere mortals, the actress officially cemented her status as a style icon.
Of course, the bohemian babe had some help with this one. Hairstylist Bridget Brager, who also works with trendsetter January Jones, created the look especially for her.
According to Bridget, the slightly slept-in style’s a nod to the 90s – kind of like a prettied-up version of Kristen Stewart’s recent grungy ‘do.

The good news is, if you’re desperate to rock the ‘do yourself, you totally can – the stylist’s revealed exactly how she did it. Here are the steps:
Step 1: Start with second-day hair, then spritz it with a bit of dry shampoo to add texture (I like Batiste Blush Dry Shampoo for its yummy floral scent).
Step 2: Create a middle part (this is easier with a fine tooth comb, such as Lady Jayne Two-Tone Tail Comb), and then pull away a small section of hair about the width of the tip of your ring finger. The section should start at your forehead and end at the crown of your head.
Step 3: Create a small cornrow braid (or if this is too tricky, a tight plait), starting from your crown and working toward your forehead.
Step 4: Once you get to your forehead, split the end of your braid into two sections, so you have two pieces.
Step 5: Secure the braid by pushing a bobby pin (try the cushion-tipped Gliders Bobby Pins 36pc) into it so it's invisible.
Step 6: Take the remaining two sections, and slick them around your hairline to frame.
Step 7: For added texture, sprinkle in some volumising powder. Kate used Kevin Murphy Powder Puff, but you could also go with Indola Innova Texture Volumising Powder or TIGI BED HEAD Candy Fixations Sugar Dust. Then, take a section of hair starting above your ears to create a half-up, half-down knot.
Step 8: Secure the knot with a clear elastic such as Scunci Grooming Clear Polybands, and finish with hair spray (for a true festival vibe, try one from the Cedel Scented Hairspray Range).
Do you love Kate Bosworth’s festival ‘do as much as us? What other celebs do you look to for hair inspiration?

Ah, I thought it was done from the front. Hm, will try it out though will probably sadly not show as nicely on dark hair, as usual for braids..
