Why you should be using cuticle oil

What is cuticle oil?
Cuticle oil is a moisturising product (usually made up of – you guessed it – oils) that is applied with a brush, cotton ball or pen on the cuticles.
Why should I use cuticle oil?
According to Sally Hansen nail expert Alison Bowhill-Hayes, cuticle oil is the go-to product if your cuticles are looking a little damaged. So if your cuticles are a bit cracked, dry or broken, it’s probably time you started applying the nourishing oil to your nails. Keep an eye out for vitamin E as an ingredient – it works wonders to help repair any damaged or torn skin and will keep your cuticles soft and supple.

When should I use cuticle oil?
Alison recommends applying cuticle oil every night to keep your nails and cuticles nourished and protected against drying out and splitting. Using the product regularly will smooth cuticles and restore them to health. Just remember: persistence and consistency.
How do I use cuticle oil?
Apply a few drops to both your nail and cuticle to help soften and hydrate. Massage it into your skin for about a minute to help stimulate the blood supply.

I have got some cuticle oil, but I prefer to use Burt’s Bees lemon cuticle butter. I massage it into my cuticles at night last thing before I turn the light off. It makes a huge difference to the condition of my cuticles.

I've been wanting to try out a cuticle oil for such a long time now. Would be interesting to compare it to a lotion!
