How-to: remove glitter nail polish

Glittery, textured nail polishes are striking. They’re also a lot fun, and play a fantastic role in nail art. But despite these great qualities, they’re also ridiculously hard to remove. I have even been known to go through a whole pile of cotton pads and an entire bottle of nail lacquer remover without succeeding to remove a single speck of said shimmery stuff. It’s very annoying.
But what if there was an easy way to remove these glittery flecks from your nails? A way that would ensure you’re not scrubbing or picking at your nails just to get them clean? Well, there is. And it’s actually so simple, I don’t know why we’ve never spoken about it before…
HOW TO REMOVE GLITTER NAIL POLISH
STEP 1: Grab yourself 10 cotton wool balls, and cut 10 squares of aluminium foil (around 5cm by 5cm will do just fine).
STEP 2: Saturate a cotton ball in nail polish remover and sit it on top of your nail, before placing a single foil square on top. To secure, wrap the foil around your nail. Repeat this step until one hand is complete.
STEP 3: Allow the remover to soak into the nail polish for five to 10 minutes, depending on how many coats you’ve applied. (Some nail polishes may require more time – it’s all about trial and error.)
STEP 4: Gently slide the foil off each finger, putting pressure on the nail and cotton ball as you do. (This will help grab hold of any last traces of polish.) Once removed, your nails should be free of glitter.
STEP 5: Repeat steps one to four on your other hand.
Ta-da! Easy, right? Sure, it takes a bit of time and effort, but there are not many ladies who’ll mind sacrificing that for clean, glitter-free nails, are there? I didn’t think so.
Have you ever tried to remove glitter nail polish and failed miserably? Do you avoid wearing shimmery lacquers on your digits because they’re hard to remove? Will you use this simple and easy removal trick from now on?

Must show this to my niece - she spent an hour trying to remove glitter nail polish off her big toe (yes, one toe) when she injured it in a skiing accident last week!

Top article!! I find some brands have sparkly polishes that are much more stubborn than others. From a scale of 1 - 10, I've found OPI is the 10 (hardest) to remove (omg!!!) and the Essence brand was a 1 (easiest) - that was a 'phew'!! I really like the way sparkly polishes chip much less that normal ones so that's on the upside of things!

I like to be able to remove my polish as quickly as possible, so it is a very rare occasion that I wear one of the only 2 glitter polishes I own. My polishes are mainly matts and shimmers which usually slide off really easy with polish remover and without harshness to the nail. I am too impatient to do a longer removal method.

This was so helpful! During summer I painted my nails with this gorgeous turquoise colour! When I attempted to remove, it stained so bad that I I had to keep putting nail polish over it to hide it. In the end I had to wait until my nails grew because I had yucky blue stained nails for weeks :(

It is a great. I found this on another web site and I do it all the time. I cut the foil into strips and cut the cotton balls in half. I dab them in polish remover put on fingers and wrap foil strips around as i am doing all 10. It is good to leave on at least 5 minutes but by the time you get to the last nail the first nail is ready to remove the foil.... It work's great. I just did it yesterday.

It's always a massive pain to remove glitter polish! It makes it even harder when you're using a non-acetone polish remover!

Saving that to favs.......I have worn a glittery nail polish a few times but gave up as it took ages to try and get all the nail polish off. Great tip and will certainly pass that on.
