This video will make you think twice about your beauty woes
Like most women, I’m prone to whinging about the effort it takes to get ready in the morning.
But when I saw this incredible video earlier today, I vowed never to complain again.
The star of the video is the beautiful Manon Slomkowski (below), who was in a serious motorbike accident last year. It left her with a condition called brachial plexus palsy, which means she’s unable to use her left arm.
She also has severely damaged nerves, leading not only to the loss of motion, but also “phantom limb pain” – which apparently feels like having electric shocks, repeatedly.
Now, I can’t even imagine how tough Manon’s recovery must have been. And in the initial stages, I’m sure the last thing on her mind was her beauty routine. But she’s a total fighter, saying, “I am teaching myself every day how to support myself, how to find solutions”.
And that includes getting ready in the morning. Watch as Manon masters an updo and cleverly files and paints her nails – as well as a bunch of other daily activities most of us take for granted, such as putting on a bra (which I think is tricky enough with two arms)!
Way to go, Manon – you’re an inspiration to us all!
