Bh's Jackie was on TV!

I had a new beauty experience this week. Tuesday morning, bright and early I headed off to the Channel 9 studios for a segment on Mornings with Kerri-Anne.
Arriving with “clean hair and face” I was first ushered into the make-up room, where I underwent a complete transformation in less than ten minutes! I had never fully appreciated the skill of a fast-moving TV make-up artist with the right tools at her disposal. Starting with a quick colour-match to get the foundation right, she swiftly moved on to my eyes using a smoky brown colour in the most perfect shape for my quite-hooded eyes. Then she quickly moved onto mascara (“…eyes up, eyes down now, now up again….thanks, done”) and the top section was complete. Next the lips – 20 seconds to mix a few colours from her palette onto the back of her hand and then straight onto the lips – no liner, no messing around - just clear, confident and shapely strokes to create the perfect natural lip. Finishing off, she applied a quick brush stroke of colour to my cheeks and pencilled my brows – ten seconds each, max, and I was done!
WOW! I was seriously impressed. Always one to the espouse the virtues of a natural look, I was initially cautious about the heaviness of TV make-up (I’ve been accused of looking like a drag queen wearing heavy make-up in the past!)
But in fact, I loved what she did. I was really happy with how it looked on television and also left the make-up as it was for the whole day – even touching up the lips at lunchtime!
And while I won’t be taking to wearing a full face every day, I do now have new respect for what these make-up magicians can do, and I’d really like to have one that I can keep at the ready - offers anyone?

How great for you Jackie and what an experience in excitement. It takes me forever to get a god look that doesn't appear over the top or under done. I wish I had a little helper to do it for me.

Good work! A full face for me (sadly) takes 20min. To me that's a lot of time to be spent on makeup.

Awesine Jackie! It takes me about 29 minutes to complete my makeup for work, however, a little longer than that when going to events.

about 10minutes, but I guess I don't really go for the whole face of makeup. I'm not a morning person so i wake up intime to give myself half an hour to shower, dress, do my makeup and hair and out the door.

You look great Jacke. I usually take about 10 minutes to put on my make up aswell. I don't like fussing aroung too much with belnding liquid foundation - I love powder and mineral make up, a good quality brush does all the work.

Thats wonderful to hear!! I think I may just have to watch it! :)
I take usually around 10 maybe 15 minutes to put on my makeup, mainly because I take it slow I think not because it's full on! If I'm going out on the town for the night It will take me a little longer because I apply false lashes but otherwise it's a breeze for me :)

Yes I loved how they did your make-up too! Sounds like a greatly enjoyable experience to have someone so professional whisking on your make-up so quickly yet to total perfection.
Personally, I probably take around 5-10 minutes to do my normal everyday make-up but I spend more like 10-15 minutes if I'm going out somewhere a bit more special. (Then there's the hair..........that can be quite unpredictable in how much time I spend because sometimes it just sits right and doesn't need much 'doing' and other times I have to poke and prod it 'til if feels acceptable.)

Hi everyone this is Jackie and thanks for all your lovely comments! Jennique - in answer to your question about the colour for my hooded-eye issue, she used quite a luminescent light to medium brown colour but took it quite high up itowards the brow bone (more so than I would) but it seemed to have a smoothing and blending effect on the hoodedness. Hope that helps!

You look amazing Jackie, really interesting and encouraging stuff. It would take me up to an hour depending on how bold, or precise the look needs to be. If I'm going for a more natural look then probably 20 mins full face.

Wow, you really did look fantastic. I suffer from the hooded eye effect and was wondering what colour the makeup artist used and how it was applied???????? It generally takes me about 20 minutes to apply a full face of makeup. Still not sure if I am doing it right though.

How super impressive and efficient was that make-up artist! A full face of make-up takes me between 30 mins to an hour, depending on what I'm doing, but it's something I only do for special occasions. My daily look takes me about 10-15 minutes unless I start procrastinating about colour combinations which can delay me severly!
