Maybelliene Colour Tattoos are little glass pots full of highly pogmented creamy eyeshadow. The range has expanded to include different colours and reviews from overseas suggest we will soon have a matte range which I look forward to greatly!!!
Most eyeshadows crease up on my lids. These are not only easy to apply with my fingertip this eyeshadow lasts all day with no creasing. I've used these on their own and as a primer under powder shadow which works effectively also. Since finally opening these I have reached for these every day both for a simple light swipe of colour for a quick polished look, or used together to create different effects and an easy smokey eye. These don't cause any irritation to my super sensitive eyes.

The Maybelline Color Tattoos are great crème eye shadows that are super long lasting and vibrant. I only have two colours from this range but use them all the time, day and night, and love the high quality and how easy they are to use.
They come in small glass pots with a secure black lid. The pot is sturdy and very thick which is great for clumsy people like me who are guaranteed to drop them. I like how the bottom of the pot is clear so that you can see the true colour of the product inside. The lid is secure and it is important to make sure the lid is on properly as these eyeshadows can dry out if left to the air.
The formula of these eye shadows are amazing and definitely live up to their claims. These eye shadows are super creamy and easy to work with. They are quite pigmented and are easy to layer and blend. These are great to use as a base for powder shadows but they are perfect by themselves as well. The Color Tattoos are really vibrant and if you try to apply a sheer layer it can seem patchy as they are so pigmented, they are far better to be worn as a neat wash of colour. They are super long lasting and I have worn them all day and all night and they still look great without creasing at all. I was worried that they would be difficult to remove as they are so long lasting but they are easily removed with eye makeup remover or an oil based cleanser without any scrubbing.
The formula is quite firm and I like to use my fingers to apply it as opposed to a brush. Using my fingers allows for the product to warm up and for really easy blending whereas I feel I have less control of this product with a brush. I have the shades Bad to the Bronze and Tough as Taupe. These are such easy to wear shades for any skin tone/eye colour. I like to apply a wash of colour and blend out wards. At night I layer it so it is a little more vibrant but both these shades are perfect for night and day.
These eye shadows are my staple, go-to product for my every day eye makeup. They are long lasting, highly pigmented and easy to use. If I could recommend any colour, Bad to the Bronze is hands down my favourite. I think they would be a great introduction to crème eye shadows if you haven't tried any before plus they are reasonably priced.

There was a time when I didn't want to use cream like eye shadows since I was scared that my naturally oily skin would make the eye shadow move but that is not a problem here.
The Maybelline New York Colour Tattoo's are each contained within their own glass pot with a black plastic screw top lid. I find that I prefer to apply this with my fingers since the warmth from my skin helps warm up the product meaning a smoother and easier application.
My usual technique with this product is to use the colour tattoo as a base for my eyelid then I usually follow up with a powder eye shadow to create depth in certain areas of my lid. (It has been a while since I have only applied just one colour to my eye lids.)
The pigmentation in the bronze shade is great and I find that both the areas which I have only the colour tattoo eye shadow applied and the areas on my eyelid which have both the colour tattoo and normal eye shadow applied on top has no problems lasting all day, they do not crease or slide. You can also choose how strong you want the colour to be by layering more Colour Tattoo upon your eyelids.

I have submitted reviews on Maybelline's colour tattoos in the past, but I'm nominating it for Best in Beauty 2014 because it's such a great product!

The colour tattoos are basically cream eyeshadows. They come in a small, sturdy glass jar with a black screw-top lid. The glass jar packaging looks high-end, but it's not travel-friendly because it's heavy and easy to damage.

They come in a range of colours. I own Too Cool (white), Pomegranate Punk (cranberry brown), Bad to the Bronze (shimmery bronze), Tough as Taupe (matte taupe), Edgy Emerald (Aqua green) and Bold Gold (gold). Some reviewers say you could use this as eyeshadow base or even eyeshadow primer, which I used to believe. But now I've used them for some time, I would say it depends on your eye shape. If you have Asian hooded eyes (but not monolids), colour tattoos on their own (without using primer underneath or setting it with extra eyeshadow) tend to crease within a couple of hours. If I don't use any primer (i.e. just colour tattoo plus powder eyeshadow), the colour will stay on for a few hours, but you can still get some creasing and you definitely need to touch up with extra eyeshadow.

In general, they are all very easy to use. You can use your finger to pat colour tattoo on your eyelids or use a flat eyeshadow brush. I have found that Tough as Taupe performs the best. I think it's because it's the only matte shade, all other shades in the collection contain glitter (some shades are more glittery than others) and don't glide on as smoothly by comparison. While they don't last as long as 24 hours as per product claim, they are still good if you want to increase your powder eyeshadow's colour intensity. They are easily removed with any standard makeup remover.

Even though I don' think they are that longlasting and crease-proof (at least on my eyelids), for its price, I still think it's a very good and affordable product. One colour tattoo will last you ages as you don't need to use much each time. However, if I am to recommend only one shade, Tough as Taupe is the best. It's a versatile neutral colour, so you can use it for a neutral look on workdays or do a neutral smokey eye for a night out. And it's creamier than other shades because of its matte formula. Great stuff!

Let me start off by saying I am a definitely a makeup junkie. So, you can trust when I say holy moly this eyeshadow is amazing. It's creamy and easily buildable, which is great for night and day. If there was one eyeshadow I would without a doubt buy, it would be Bad to the Bronze. It's the perfect colour for almost every skin tone and works great all year round.

I'm reviewing both the regular color tattoos & the metal color tattoos. Some of the info is the same across both ranges, so my reviews are identical down to the row of asterisks. After the row of asterisks is info relating directly to THIS range.
I wish they'd spell colour correctly! Can't they relabel for the Oz/Brit market?
I bought one to try & it was incredible, so when they went on sale for half price, I went mad & bought one of almost every shade. Unfortunately, the quality is inconsistent across both ranges. The darkest shades are best, they apply easily, & blend well even without primer - an absolute dream. The lightest shades are very disappointing: they don't apply smoothly, they look cakey even with a primer. I've got the beginnings of crepey skin just above the eyelids on the inner sides. The lighter shades look coarse even on the areas where my skin is smooth; whereas the darkest shades look smooth even on my crepey areas. Crazy!
Some colours are definite repurchases when empty; I don't know how I'm going to use up some of the lighter shades though.
Some of the colours are clown bright when worn as an all-over shade, but blend well with each other & you can also use with regular powder shadows.
There is inconsistency as to which shades are in the regular range & which are in the metal range. One of the metals isn't metallic; a few of the nonmetal range ARE metallic. Confusing!
The cream is quite firm, application works best with a large eyeshadow brush, a spongetip applicator (or fingertips!) .
I haven't worn for 24hrs, but I've worn all day & still looked fresh at night, so the durability is excellent.
I was worried about removing such a longlasting product. My usual eyemakeup remover is generic baby oil on a single cottonwool ball for both eyes (I _always_ wear waterproof mascara), the color tattoo came off easily with no rubbing!
They feel as light on the lids as wearing no shadow! If applied too lightly they crease a tiny bit. If applied until opaque there's no creasing.
Every tester in every shop is dried up, so I very carefully replace lids after each use.

Audacious Asphalt (mid-grey, semi-metallic), Tough as Taupe & Bad to the Bronze: absolutely amazing! Beautiful coverage even on my crepey areas. Great alone or mixed with the other colours or even powder shadows. Asphalt has subtle microglitter texture, like actual asphalt, but not what you'd call glitteriness. Still OK for day wear, even at my age, 48. These three are 5 Stars each, (second only to the Electric blue in the metallic range).
Tenacious Teal (more bright blue than teal) & Edgy Emerald (bright green): clown bright & not good alone. Coverage is smooth except on my crepey areas. The finish is _almost_ metallic. Blends well, so they're great for a
'pop' of colour. 3.5 stars!
Fierce & Tangy (orange) now deleted, but I scored one online! Great blendability! Clown bright alone, but blends wonderfully with the Bad to the Bronze, or with your own brown/nude powder shadows. 5 stars!
Painted Purple: coverage is smooth except on my crepey areas. Not too bright, could be used alone if it weren't for my crepiness. 4 stars!
Bold Gold: this should definitely be in the metal range as the finish is a gilt metallic, not yellow gold. It's not very smooth to apply, it makes my skin _look_ crepey even on my smooth areas. I'm usually very fond of a gold or yellow shadow on my inner third eyelid, but I have to be very careful when applying this colour. 1.5 stars
Too Cool (shimmery white): this is undoubtedly the worst colour in either range. It should probably be in the metal range. It's got a microfine glitteriness like the Audacious Asphalt, but it's cakey looking when applied. Ugh! Maybe OK if you're younger, use it as a highlighter on browbone, cheekbones & even collarbones. Not at my age though. I use it on my lower waterline & a tiny careful spot on my inner lids. N0 stars :(

I've purchased many of these now as I believe they make great bases for under your eyeshadows or you may even use them on their own for a pop of colour. Colour selection is fantastic and I love the packaging.

The only flaw I have about these is they tend to dry up and go hard, especially during Winter when the room is cold. It makes it really annoying to apply. You can just warm them up & they go back to normal but it's just inconvenient.

I still love them though. They're really affordable and a good dupe to MAC's paint pots.

When I purchased these I absolutely loved them they were an awesome base, initially they were moderately creamy nothing amazing but they were nice on the eyes. After 6 months they dry up and become harder to use, they still do the job and look nice but they become harder to blend and not very creamy at all to use. This has happened to everyone I know personally that uses them which we all discussed that I always put them lid back on ASAP and it has just dried up. The mac paint pot which these are usually compared to do not dry up at all, even with everyday usage of course keeping it shut. I have a few colours in these and I still do wear them but I much prefer reaching for my mac paint pots regardless of the pricing difference. I do still like the wear of these on my lids and how they make my eyeshadow look so it was a hard review to write. You can always manage to find them on sale somewhere for around $8 which is a good price and would recommend these to someone who wouldn't want to invest in a higher end version just caution them that they do dry up and become harder to use and initially aren't as creamy.

These eyeshadows work really great, and they are really easy to apply. I have them in tough as taupe, barely branded and bold gold, which are all beautiful shades. If you wear these all day they will last well but sometimes they will crease.
