Grey forecast
Designers at the Fall/Winter Paris shows have been taking things literally this season. Dior didn't just recall Marie Antoinette, he revived her, sending his models down the runway in hoop skirts and ruffled confections that even a French queen would be wowed by. And this year's interpretation of the classic smouldering eye is more truly smoky than ever. Eyes at Alice Roi and Doo.Ri went from ashen to slate, but beautyheaven's favourite version of the trend was at Toni Maticevski, where grey plumes rose from lids all the way to temples, balanced by subtle tangerine-tinged lips.
It looked amazing on the catwalk, but the rest of us probably need to tone it down for the sidewalk. Try Gorgeous Cosmetics. Begin by tracing Gel It Gel Eyeliner ($30) along your top lash line, then apply Colour Pro Eye Shadow in Midnight ($30) across the entire lid, smudging it gently toward your temples. For a more defined take (like the inset pic), try drawing Colour Pro Eye Shadow in Slate ($30) along your socket line and continuing this darker colour beneath your lower lashes too. Not sure you can carry off such shady greys? Maybelline New York's Expert Wear Trio ($13.95) in Impeccable Greys is a blendable palette of hues you can ease yourself in with. Just make sure you start practising now – we think it will be a while before this trend blows over.

Greys and silvers are surprisingly flattering and look amazing around the eyes.

Would love to see tones of grey for this coming winter too, but they say bottle greens are the go.

Love the silver grey colours and this is definitely something I must try, as I don't wear these colours too often.

I like grays on my eyes (even though my eyes themselves are gray).

I love smouldering eyes but am yet to master the technique of it. I am thinking a makeup lesson at MAC might help :-)
