5 ways to ensure your makeup lasts all day

You know when things become boring? When you have to do them all the time. It can also be frustrating and seriously stressful when you have to re-do a task repeatedly – and that’s not cool, especially when it’s something as joyous as putting on your make-up.
For this reason, we wanted to provide you with five key must-have products that will ensure you don’t have to stress over having to touch-up the make-up that seems to slide right off your face as soon as you put it on each morning. These little beauties will see your make-up last all day long, no touch-ups required…
#1: an eyeshadow primer
There’s nothing worse than taking the time to create a show-stopping smoky eye and then realising it’s either faded away or smudged across your eyelid and will need instant tending to. Make sure your eye make-up stays looking as picture perfect as when first applied by starting out with an eyeshadow primer over your entire eyelid. We love ck one color Eyeshadow Base as it creates a blendable, nude canvas that effectively evens out the skin tone of your eyelids while creating the perfect base for eye make-up.
#2: a pore minimising product
It’s a fact: your make-up always looks much better when it’s on a smooth, bump-free base. Using a pore minimising cleanser, like the Neutrogena Pore Refining Cleanser is the perfect way to ensure your make-up applies to the best possible base. Teaming that with a pore minimising balm, such as Benefit The Porefessional, will also ensure that your make-up has a smooth base to cling to.
#3: a hard-working primer
It’s a common misconception that in order to have make-up that lasts all day, you must use longwearing make-up products. The truth is, any make-up will last longer if you prepare the right base, which is why Bodyography Veil Foundation Primer is the perfect choice. Using a formula made of green tea, grape seed extracts, vitamin A and E and dermaxyl (a hard-working anti-ageing ingredient), the nourishing primer works to turn your skin into the perfect base for your foundation to stay all day.
#4: a brightening setting powder
Once you’ve applied your make-up to your face, a translucent setting powder is the thing you need to keep it all together. Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder ($35, 02 9663 4277) is a lighter-than-air powder that delivers a translucent finish with brilliant radiance. Better still, the fine powder will help to lock your make-up in place for longer, meaning you won’t need to touch up as often – if at all!
#5: a make-up setting spray
Know you’re going to be under the spotlight or getting your heart rate up today? You’ll want to take extra care in order to ensure your make-up stays put then, won’t you? NYX Cosmetics Make Up Setting Spray is designed to settle gently onto your skin and ensure your make-up stays looking perfect all day. The best bit is, you can customise your finish by choosing between the two variants: Matte Shine-Free Finish or Dewy Fresh Glow.
What is your best tip for helping your make-up to stay all day?

I think my serum and primer( on occasion) help set and make my make up last and my dream product is using the models prefer finishing powder to set my makeup. And it really does leave my makeup looking fresh and non oily. Love it. The make up setting spray sounds good too.

I have trouble making my make up stay on all day. I think a primer would help.

Great tips! I also find it helpful to apply foundation in thin layers, building up to my desired coverage, and not slapping 'em all at once on my face.

I think setting powders are amazing, There are ones that have SPF which means I can re-apply during the day to soak up oil and not worry about stray UV rays!

I love the idea of primers but I'm still trying to find a silicone free primer that actually works. Yes, my skin is THAT oily :(
