5 tips and tricks for using mineral makeup

With its nourishing formula, mineral make-up can be a real saviour for your skin.
It’s also very easy to work with – but just like any other product, it takes a bit of technique to nail the application.
Here are some handy tips for flawless results when you apply your mineral make-up base…
Tip #1: Use a mineral primer
Just like any other foundation, mineral foundation fairs best when it’s applied over a primer. In addition to creating an even, luminous base for your make-up, a mineral primer also delivers skin care benefits such as added hydration and protection against ageing. One mineral primer that delivers all this and more is the Nude by Nature Airbrush Primer, which contains paw paw, vitamin A and E and green tea, all known for their anti-ageing and moisturising properties.
Tip #2: Build your base gradually
Once you’ve applied your primer, use a Mineral Brush to apply a pressed powder to your face, building it gradually until you have your desired coverage. Remember, even if you’re aiming for fuller coverage, you can always add more as you go. Building it up slowly will also help you vary the coverage. Some areas – where you have visible pores, for example – may need more coverage than others.
Tip #3: Buff it in
Gently buffing your base into your skin will help to warm up the minerals on your skin, ensuring smooth, even coverage and a more flawless finish. Use circular motions, rather than sweeping ones, for best results. When applied using this technique, the Nude by Nature Pressed Mineral Cover helps minimise the appearance of imperfections, pores and fine lines. It also conditions your skin with Kadadu plum, avocado oil, jojoba oil, shea butter and kaolin clay – as well as some key vitamins and minerals (including titanium dioxide, iron oxide and vitamins C and E). Ladies with sensitive skin will be pleased to know it’s even free from talc, parabens and bismuth, so it’s non-irritating. Plus, its compact form means you won’t have to worry about those loose powder spills!
Tip #4: Warm it up
If you notice your face looks slightly washed out compared to the rest of your body, use a bronzer such as the Nude by Nature Pressed Matte Mineral Bronzer to give you a warm, sun-kissed glow. Focus your application under your cheekbones to contour and then use your brush to blend it in to the rest of your face. The best way to do this is to trace the shape of a ‘3’ on each side of your face, working from the centre of your forehead to the centre of your cheek, and then outwards again along your jawline.
Tip #5: Use a finishing veil
To seal your mineral make-up and enhance its longevity without adding any extra coverage, sweep a translucent, pressed finishing powder over the top. This will also help absorb excess oil and shine and give your make-up a satin, semi-matte finish. Try the feather-light Nude by Nature Pressed Mattifying Mineral Veil, which uses light-reflecting micro particles to disguise imperfections even further.

I use the loose powder version of this mineral makeup and I think it is quite good. I do have issue with the brush . I think it is a letdown and if I didn't try to use another brush with the foundation I would actually hate the foundation.

Well, I was lucky enough to be in the trial team for this mineral makeup. I thought it was a great compact. You just need to determine which is the right way for you according to your skin type. I put in a number of different methods in my review.

Mineral makeup ALWAYS oxidises on my skin real bad! Even with a primer. Personally I'm not a fan which is a shame because of it's benefits :(
