FIT me! Matte + Poreless Foundation Reviews

I have tried maybelline foundations before and they are generally ok. The smell is not too overpowering. I have tried the fit me matte and poreless before but sadly the shade I chose was too dark. Howerver, the shade I chose this time fit me much better despite looking at pictures of the shade only. It performs just like a regular fit me matte and poreless foundation. I don't like the smell. Ithe shade is perfect and i love the lightweight feeling of this foundation. It has a low to medium coverage, not full as I would like but it gives me a healthy, glowy dewy look which I do like. Going on from that, it is not necessarily matte, it still has a bit of a glowy look to it. I feel like the packaging could of been better. A pump would of been nice as it would be more sanitary.

This has become my favourite drugstore foundation, they have a great shade range for when I am pale but also when I am deeply fake tanned.

when I am extremely tanned - I use Bondi sands 1 hour express, do a double coat leave on for 3 hours, wash off. Re apply 1 more layer and wash off after another 3 hours.

when my tan has faded slightly and im not completely tanned I use the shade 220

When I am pale I use the shade 110 and all shades work amazing, you can literally see your pores are smoother. I keep repurchasing!

Thanks BH for the opportunity to trial this foundation. It reminds me of the fit me concealer, but not as moisturising and needs faster blending, I have to do my face in sections as it sets quickly. The coverage is a bit heavier than what I am used to - I usually use a very sheer foundation that can be built up. So I didn’t need to use as much for medium coverage. It doesn’t build very well but it has enough coverage that I can just use one layer with concealer. The bottle is simple and elegant. The foundation is runny which I really like, but it also means it would work better with a pump. Although it is a matte foundation, it is not drying or powdery-looking and has more of a satin finish. It sat really well on my skin without looking mask-like like other matte foundations. It was very comfortable to wear and felt like a lightweight foundation. I felt comfortable wearing it without powder but I did need to powder a few hours into wear (which is standard for me). I didn’t think matte foundations would work for my skin type but I really liked this one. The lasting power is much better than sheerer more moisturising foundations and I like it better than the dewy & smooth version. I think this is a great everyday foundation and a good drugstore alternative to pricier foundations. It will definitely find a place in my regular rotation for days when I want a bit more coverage.

Overall I really really wanted to love this product as I have seen and heard so many great reviews of it online and from friends. First things first it comes in a tube without a pump. For this reason I wasn’t thrilled as I prefer a pump. Combine this with the fact that the formula is super thin and basically a liquid I found it annoying to use. I ended up having to put it onto my fingertips then face as I would waste product on the back of my hand. The thin formula was annoying for any coverage. I had heard this was meant to be medium but it was light at best. Covering any sort of redness on my cheeks and nose required a second layer which didn’t really build well and blending around my neck with this thin formula was difficult. The wearability of the product wasn’t great. At lunchtime it had worn off in patches and at the end of the day it was about as existent as my faith in Australian politics. I found using a primer and a setting spray helped prolong its lifespan and eventual death slightly but not to anything majorly significant. Overall this product would be for someone who likes a lighter foundation coverage. I liked it didn’t settle into my pores or make my dry skin drier or uncomfortable. I will continue to use it with a crap load of concealer or mix it with some moisturiser and use it as a BB cream.

I had tried the Maybelline Fit me foundation a few years back but found it didn't last on me, I have oily skin so I was hoping the Matte version would work a lot better

When I opened up for the first time to apply I was a little nervous to see the shade looked darker than I had picked, however once it was on my skin it was near perfect so that made me really happy! I was also disappointed to see that you had to pour out the foundation according to how much you wanted, I much prefer a pump system, it seems a lot cleaner and pouring reminds me of being 15 and applying cheap foundation

All up it lives up to the poreless in the title, I couldn't see my pores and I didn't feel like I was wearing a thick mask of make up, however my skin is on the oily side and after just 3 hours of wearing the foundation to my desk job it had pretty much all slid off so I was really disappointed!

I tried it the next day setting it with loose powder, all over the effect was much better but still only lasted 6 or so hours

I tried a primer and setting it with loose powder the next day and it worked quite well but honestly I found it a bit time consuming, im happy with my regular foundation and probably wont change.

I am quite picky when it comes to foundation, there are very few liquids that do the job for me. I tend towards redness, dry patches, eczema and oily skin, so there are a lot of factors to consider when trying to find the right colour and type of liquid. I really have been quite impressed with the Maybelline FITme Matte & Poreless liquid.
It is packaged in a generous size glass bottle with black lid, fairly basic details on the bottle itself but nice quality still.
I would have preferred a pump head as opposed to open neck, just because I feel safer knowing im not going to accidentally over-tip and waste product.
I use a mixture of foundation brush and powder (kabuki type) plush brush to apply this foundation, as I find most liquids dont finish well on my skin when using my fingers,
I did find that the foundation seems to set VERY quickly! I normally have time to dab on each area, then go back and blend, but with this formula, it seemed to have set already which made my first application not so great. It could also be the temperature, as it sat in an open bathroom overnight, and it was freezing that morning so maybe that played a part too.
Once i learnt to just apply and blend area by area, that worked better for me .
I used a primer underneath, one that also helps minimize pores. I did not use a setting or finishing powder over it tho as I wanted to see how it went without.
I was pleasantly surprised! The shade I picked using the online photo matching tool was great, it actually is almost perfect (maybe slightly dark but nothing noticable).
I easily went at least 6 or so hours at work without any shine, and the coverage is quite good without feeling too heavy or thick.
I definitely did notice that it blurred my quite visible, large pores, and just gave a really nice finish overall.
The colour choices with this foundation are really generous too, soooo many to choose from! Definitely get in store if you can to test, but uploading a well lit photo from home and using the online tool worked just as good as i had hoped!
Overall a lovely light liquid with great coverage and matte properties. I would just prefer a pump lid thats really the only drawback i could find.

I received this as a Trial Team product (once again, thank you bH!) and was quite pleasantly surprised by this foundation's effectiveness. I'm a longtime user of the Bourgeois Healthy Mix foundation/variations over the years, and am almost out of my latest batch so this trial came at quite an opportune time.

The FITMe Matte foundation comes in quite a large range of shades - including the darker end of the spectrum, which is often overlooked in a lot of foundations lines still - so this is certainly a massive plus for those who often struggle to find the right shade (although it could, I think, perhaps go even darker/have more range in some of the darker colours). It did take me some time to work out exactly which shade I was (in no small part due to my own indecisiveness), but I ended up going with the classic ivory which was a near perfect match for my post-winter skin colour.

The foundation comes in a 30ml bottle (a little bit smaller than I'm used to, but not poor value at all) with a screw top and no pump dispenser - ie. you have to tip the foundation directly out onto a palette or applicator of choice. I just chose to awkwardly reach my fingers in with the first few applications. This drives me insane from both a control perspective (it's so difficult to get the right amount of foundation you need/so easy to waste a lot) as well as a hygiene perspective (even with a clean brush or fingers I really dislike reaching *in* to the bottle), but this is perhaps the only significant negative that I experienced using the product.

It's a more or less scentless formulation (which I personally like very much) and also quite a liquidy formulation. In fact, the consistency is arguably almost on the thin side of things and so I expected quite a light coverage. This was not the case. Using quite a small amount of foundation on my fingers I found that it quickly and quite effectively covered the redness/minor scarring on my nose as well as some light blemishes on my chin, and also largely filled in some of my not-insubstantially-sized pores in my T-zone. I have a feeling this pore-filling/minimising effect would be even more apparent were I to use a brush for application (I'll update at some point once I do this). As it is I'd call it a medium to full coverage with all the feel of a lightweight foundation.

After about 4hrs it does start to look more dewy than matte for me because I do tend to have quite a greasy T-zone, but nothing so horrendous as to be unfixable with a little powder. I also found a little bit of slippage esp. around my nose bridge because I wear glasses; however, I did rush out the door this morning without having used primer or setting spray, as well as with quite a greasy sunscreen underneath, so this was likely to have been a contributing factor.

Overall, for the price and the extent of coverage (you can get so much mileage out of so little), I'd definitely rate this a 4 or 4.5 out of 5. -- Particularly a great starter foundation for those starting out with make up.

I am always wary of picking my shade online but I used the guide on the Maybelline website and once the foundation oxidised a little found it to be quite a good match.

Its a light weight foundation, but very buildable. I used a beauty blender to apply but would probably use a brush in future to keep more of the coverage and make for easier layering.

I have very large pores and am oily T-zone. I found that while initial coverage of the pores was good, it didn't last and the foundation moved around a bit especially on my nose by the end of the day (no primer or setting spray so these may help that!)

The packaging is typical of the Fitme range, just an open bottle. Which I am not a fan of, can't control how much comes out and either leads to wastage or mess.

But otherwise I feel like this would be a good every day foundation. I wouldn't use it for occassions but would pick this up if I wanted more coverage than my BB Cream but still wanted to feel fresh.

I usually have oily skin that greases up very obviously if I use foundation that is quite oily. I felt like with this foundation, my face didn't get oily until late into the night and even then it wasn't obvious.

I like the texture and feel of the foundation on the face. It is easy to apply with a sponge (spreads evenly) and after application my face did not feel like it was caked up or that my skin couldn't breathe. It also had a decent poreless finish so it made my face look smoother and more natural from a distance.

The foundation is more of a light coverage one so any spots or pigmentation on the face won't be covered up completely, but it is good for a more natural kind of makeup look or as a base under a generous amount of concealer, provided you are able to find your shade match. I found it difficult to find one that matched my paler skin colour and tone without giving off a pinkish hue to it (my skin tone is more yellow).

I would definitely recommend this foundation as a staple in your everyday makeup routine if you are able to find a shade match.
