Floating crease eyeliner is trending right now

Floating crease eyeliner is trending! The eyeliner look is having a moment thanks to a couple of trendy celebs. Kylie Jenner rocked it in a recent Kylie Cosmetics Summer Collection shoot and then just a few days later, Ariana Grande featured the look in her viral “God Is A Woman” music video. So it’s safe to say the eyeliner look (which is very 1960s Twiggy) is back right now.

If you’re not familiar with floating crease eyeliner, it’s where you draw on liner in the crease of your eye, instead of on the lash line, so it appears as if it is floating above the eye.
The charm of floating crease eyeliner is that you can make it kind of subtle, but you can also go to town with it. The graphic look works fabulously with festival makeup. So if you’re planning on heading to a music festival sometime soon, swipe some floating shimmer or neon eyeliner onto your crease to take your look to the next level.
Itching to try the eyeliner trend out? Just make sure you’re precise. The look only really works if you get the line in the right place. After priming your eyelids and putting on a base eyeshadow colour, close, then slowly open your eyes in front of a mirror to see where your crease lies. Next, draw an arc just above it. If you’re worried about the steadiness of your hand, you can draw a soft line or dots as a guide and then go over it after.
Try the trend with the Bourjois Clubbing Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil or e.l.f. cosmetics Essentials Shimmer Eyeliner Pencil.
We have a feeling we’re going to be seeing a lot more floating crease eyeliner!

I would not try this eye liner trend, would not suit me. Looks alright on the young ones.

Ariana’s video is visually lovely, and the look suits her, but I can’t see it working for me at all.

Nope. Not for me. It looks great on the model but I think only a certain type of eye shape on a younger girl would get away with it. On most women I think it would just look like they were trying to hard to be trendy and failing. Not an every day look either, more of a clubbing girl night time look for chicks in their 20's.

Totally agree with you! If I was in my 20's & clubbing, sure...yet absolutely not these days, I would look like an absolute try hard & feel like one - doubly bad!!!

Interesting look. I might have tried it 20 years ago.... then again. I think start subtle then get more adventurous.

I think it looks better for IG pics, probably might look a bit strange on far away shots and being in public

I do agree with you, Khajiit! Does make a cool IG pic though x

Looks ok on Ariana and Kylie when there’s shadow blended into the crease. The silver eyeliner floating on its own without any blending just looks odd.

I sort of get this look accidentally sometimes when my creme eyeshadow wears off and all that remains is what sits in the crease.

Not for me. I think it looks good for a more artsy type shot but not for normal day wear.
