The secret to Kim Kardashian's post-baby weight loss

It took a while for Kim Kardashian to come out of hiding after the birth of baby North West, but now that she’s braving the public again it’s easy to see that the new mum has been working hard to get her famed curvaceous figure back.
Four months after setting her goal to lose 13.6kg, the reality TV star has revealed the secret behind her weight loss. She responded to a fan on Twitter who had asked her how she was losing the weight by tweeting: “I’ve actually been doing the Atkins diet & luv it.”
You may have heard of the Atkins diet before, as it’s previously been accredited as the reason behind other celebrity figures including Jennifer Aniston, Demi Moore and Catherine Zeta-Jones. This year the diet had a makeover and is now referred to as the New Atkins Nutritional Approach.
“Being a new nursing mother, Kim needed adequate calories to be healthy for her child and keep up her milk production. What's great about Atkins is that it's not about counting calories or depriving yourself," a rep from Atkins explained.
Kim’s diet has consisted mainly of lean, nutritious foods such as fish, lean cuts of meat, beef, leafy greens, broccoli, spinach, nuts, avocados and olive oil.
Kim’s older sister Kourtney, who is mother to son Mason (three) and daughter Penelope (one), once collapsed from exhaustion after vigorously exercising to get her figure back post-baby. So we’re happy to see that Kim is taking a more healthy approach.
Are you impressed by Kim’s post-baby figure? Have you ever tried The Atkins Diet?

I think she has done amazingly to get back her figure, although I dont think she should be judged either way. I know it would be much easier with a personal chef on hand.lol

I know someone who was doing the Atkin's diet. I think it made losing weight and getting healthier easier for her than trying to do it on her own.

I dislike diets. I just eat a varied and well balanced diet and keep active. It should be about lifestyle not a diet that lasts only until you lose weight.

She looks good but she has so many people assisting and cooking for her, so its easy for her. And I think every woman should just do whats right for her, and not feel pressured into diets.

It must be tough being a celebrity and feeling the pressure to look perfect, especially after having a baby.

I've done so many diets in my life, but don't indulge in fads any more. A wide variety of foods and everything in moderation works best for me :-) Kim does look good though...

I'm not a fan of anything that cuts out any food groups - but I must agree, Kim looks fantastic.

I haven't been on the Atkins diet; I believe in the good-old balanced diet, exercise and eating takeaway etc in moderation. However, if a particular diet works for someone, and it doesn't have any adverse effects, I don't see anything wrong with that. It is good to see Kim K seems to be taking a healthy approach to weight loss!

Don't envy anyone in the spotlight after having a baby. It took 9 months to go on - slow and steady is the best way. I don't diet - look at what I eat and it's not hard to see the culprit(s) - so I cut them out or cut down and it works. Everyone is different and you need to find what works for you.

I did the old Atkins diet years ago, and was not overly impressed, especially as burning Ketones makes your breath less than fragrant. The new Atkins diet includes more food groups so perhaps it is okay. The thing is Dr Atkins died of cancer, I believe, but it made me wonder at the time about the diet. I know the jury is out on what causes all of the cancers so could have been a coincidence but perhaps just moderation in everything is a better way to go.

As long as its a healthy and safe diet, it's okay. There shouldn't be any stress to lose the baby weight immediately.

A friend of mine lost a lot of weight on the new Atkins programme, it seems a lot healthier and easier to stick to than the old one.

I don't believe in diets as such. I believe that a healthy lifestyle with everything in moderation, plenty of exercise and lots of love and laughter will keep you happy. I still can't believe she called that poor baby North West! Far out!

I'm impressed with her hard work! But shame that it also comes with the pressure of new mums needing to look slim once in post baby body. If the Atkins diet is doing her good and making her happy plus not harming both herself and the baby then there's nothing more to say! I just wouldn't approach the Atkins diet as a long term 'healthy eating goal', they are research and case studies done, but we still need to see the long term benefits in the future. The new modified diet sounds much promising than the old one

It takes dedication and motivation to keep to a diet. As long as she is not harming her body, she is doing great!
