Fun facts about pregnancy
Pregnancy is a happy, scary, overwhelming and exciting time in your life. But it’s also really, REALLY interesting. I mean think about it, there is a little human growing inside of you! It starts off as hardly anything and then nine months later you’re holding a little baby in your arms. Pretty incredible right?
Your baby goes through so many changes throughout your pregnancy it’s hard to keep up, but we thought we’d note some of the most incredible moments of these nine months…
PREGNANCY FACT - 7 weeks
You’re pregnant! Yay! During the seventh week your baby's vital organs, including the lungs and gut, will start to develop. The brain is already growing so rapidly that the head will look too big for it’s tiny body.
PREGNANCY FACT - 9 weeks
The hands, feet and bones are beginning to grow and your bub will start making tiny movements. They’ll be far too small for you to feel just yet though.
PREGNANCY FACT - 11 weeks
Your baby is officially a foetus! (It was previously known as an embryo). The baby is now undergoing many sophisticated changes, such as development of the sense organs.
PREGNANCY FACT - 12 weeks
The arms and legs are now fully formed and are much more in proportion with the rest of the baby’s body.
PREGNANCY FACT- 15 weeks
Thought people talking to your belly was silly? At 15 weeks your baby’s ears have formed enough for them to hear you speaking!
PREGNANCY FACT - 20 weeks
At 20 weeks you may begin to feel your baby's movements for the first time. Those flutters in your stomach could be more than just nervous butterflies.
PREGNANCY FACT - 23 weeks
Your baby is now starting to make regular deep breathing movements, which are critical for the development and expansion of your baby's lungs.
PREGNANCY FACT - 24 weeks
Yawning becomes a regular activity for your baby, possibly to unblock the ears, but nobody really knows why.
PREGNANCY FACT - 26 weeks
Your baby will start sticking out its tongue a lot. Not because he or she wants to be like Miley, but usually because they’ve just had a large gulp of amniotic fluid.
PREGNANCY FACT - 27 weeks
The eyes may be opening for the first time this week!
PREGNANCY FACT - 29 weeks
Just because your baby is kicking you at one end, it doesn't mean the head is at the other. Your baby is so flexible they can easily put their feet on top of their head one minute and bring them down the next.
PREGNANCY FACT- 37 weeks
Full term has been reached and now your baby is simply putting on weight to prepare for birth. Every part of your baby’s face is fully developed and they’re trying out all different kinds of expressions.
