The rise of the solid perfume

Though it’s been around since ancient Egyptian times, for some reason, solid perfume has always come second to the classic liquid-spray. But have you ever considered that a cream perfume might actually be a far more practical form for your fragrance?
For one, they’re the ultimate in discreet fragrance application, plus they’re great for the sensitive skinned or perpetual travellers among us (take that, liquid limits!). And while this isn’t the case in the bh office, we recognise the dangers of using a spray in public - heaven help you should you spritz your fragrant mist onto someone who doesn’t share your same love of oud.
So with that in mind, we put forth the solid scents that’ll save you next time you find yourself wedged on a train in rush hour and in desperate need of a fragrant hit.

L’Occitane
These travel-sized tins are perfect for touch-ups. Specifically formulated without alcohol, the fragrances are the ideal choice for sensitive skin. Apply to the wrists, decolletage and behind the ears.
L’Occitane Cherry Blossom Solid Perfume is a soft cherry blossom fragrance that (subtly) screams femininity.
L’Occitane Pivoine Flora Solid Perfume captures the fragrance of the unfurling peonies in the Provence region, and blends floral notes with a woody trail.
Diptyque Solid Perfumes
Encased in shiny black cases and engraved with the iconic Diptyque oval, these concentrated solid perfumes come in all your favourite Diptyque fragrances. They’re great to pop in your handbag for when you need to freshen up on the go.
Crabtree & Evelyn
This ultra-feminine fragrance was created using an innovative technology, which extracts scent molecules straight from rose petals. The Rose Solid Perfume captures every nuance of the flower, along with peach nectar, jasmine and violet. As a bonus, its alcohol-free base is suitable for dry skin.
Lush
Lush always delivers delish-smelling treats, and their solid perfume selection is nothing short of amazing.
With 100 percent pure rose oil and fresh basil, the Lush Gorilla Perfume Imogen Rose Solid Perfume opens with fresh Damascus, develops with soft tonka, and dries with sweet amber and ambrette seed. The result is a wonderfully warm, floral fragrance.
The scent of vanilla helps to relieve stress and anxiety, so the Lush Vanillary Solid Perfume is perfect to stash in your desk drawer. The scent develops with burnt caramel on the skin, like the scent of tonka bean. Yum.
Sabé Masson Le Soft Perfume
Adorable and all-natural, these scented sticks are beautifully packaged and double up as a skin-healing balm.

Just be careful with the Lush solid perfumes as the colours in some of them stain your clothes!

I must confess I almost put on the l'occitane cherry blossom perfume as lip gloss once...lol!
But I do like a solid perfume ...tho I would worry about them in summer and if they would melt!

I haven't used any solid perfume till now, this article has tempted me now to pick one up. Will check out the fragrances and pick the one which is different from the ones I currently own (not solids). Very interested in Vanillary but I already have a fragrance from Neem'ah which may be similar. The Lush stick one looks very handy and cute!

These other's are good but when you think of perfume it's actual perfume you think of in a bottle you get the real smell from that & it's a strong one no matter what type it is they are stronger in a bottle & you don't have that type of yellowish colour with other's that you get in cream's when they go off.

I remember in my younger days that solid perfumes were very popular. I seem to remember that they lasted well too. they used to come in a solid compact that you wore on a chain around your neck. that was way back in the seventies! i must look out for them.
