Are you accidentally ruining your skin?

When it comes to getting gorgeous glossy locks every day, while loading your hair with products is a sure-fire way to nail it, the reality is even your favourite, Holy Grail hair products could be causing some of your skin issues without you even realising it #ScaryBeautyFacts.
Here are some of the signs you’re accidentally ruining your skin causing breakouts, clogged pores and dryness, and the tricks to getting great hair and even better skin, too!
The problem: Pimples
The possible culprit: Hair pastes and pomades
If thick pastes and pomades make contact with your skin, they can get trapped in your pores resulting in blackheads, whiteheads and breakouts. Yikes! Try to avoid using these products close to your hairline so they don’t make their way onto your skin and trap themselves in your pores. Also, make sure you wash your hands immediately after using the product to avoid transferring it onto your skin if you happen to touch your face.

The problem: Clogged pores and breakouts on your forehead
The possible culprit: A greasy fringe
While it's totally acceptable to neglect washing your greasy fringe for a few days, problems can rain on your #LazyGirl parade when your oily bangs leave your forehead bumpy and breaking out. Oh, and it might not only be grease that’s causing these skin issues - the hair products that you used when styling your fringe will have built up on your strands and could be making contact with your mug, too.
The solution? Make sure you wash your mane at the first sign of grease, or take the easy route by pinning back your fringe or giving it a quick wash over the sink.

The problem: Dry, flaky skin
The possible culprit: Overwashing
If you wash your hair every single day and suffer from dry, flaky and dehydrated skin, overwashing might be to blame. Shampoo works by cleansing your hair and scalp of oils, dirt and any product build-up, and if your shampoo comes in contact with your skin every day - and you’ve already used a cleanser on your skin - your complexion can become zapped of moisture, leaving it dry and flaky. It might be time to ditch your daily hair washing routine, and instead stretch it out to every two or even three days. Also, make sure when you rinse shampoo out of your locks, you tip your head back to avoid the suds making contact with your face.
Are you getting unexplained breakouts or blackheads? Do you treat your skin with extra care when you use hair products?

Phew luckily I'm not as acne-prone as I used to be, I used to have a lot of pimples near my hair line, switching to more natural shampoo and conditioner helps!

I was always told not to wear a fringe because it would make me break out, yet my forehead has always been the last place for pimples - until I grew my fringe out. I suspect my fringe was mopping up the excess oil.

Flaky dry skin can sometimes be a problem for me. I think it also helps to use a gentle shower gel/product without fragrance and other irritants.

Very interesting. I actually agree that conditioner makes you break out. Since I have been using shower oil my dry skin has changed to smooth and soft. Be sure to get a good one, it makes a difference. Always something new to learn about beauty problems..

I don't have these problems, not due to my hair anyway. It's true that something simple like tilting your head back when you rinse off shampoo (so to avoid suds getting on the face) makes a big difference in avoiding skin problems.

I don't have problems with any of these issues, but know that I used to use drying products on my skin in the hopes of helping my oily skin problems. I never realised that by doing this I was making it worse!

I have to remind my teenage son to wash his hands really well after applying his hair product with his hands. The stuff he puts in his hear is nigh impossible to remove! Takes about three goes washing his hands with soap before the sticky feeling leaves.

I've recently been suffering from large pores on my face and can't really explain it besides the weather and possibly transference from greasy hair.

I have dry flakey skin and use soap free cleansers in the shower. I was advised by my Derm to do so.
