Mindy Kaling reveals her oily skin product saviours

You don’t have to be a teenager to struggle with oily skin. At 36 years old, Mindy Kaling recently revealed on app The List that she knows all too well about the perils of an oily complexion, citing her favourite skin care products for keeping shine at bay, fighting acne and a mattifying day cream that works well under make-up.

Even though she’s a highly successful writer, actress and comedian, it’s not all high-end products. In fact the first one she lists can be found in most supermarkets and local chemists: Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser. Mindy referred to the cleanser as “old faithful” and likes to use it at the end of the day to loosen her make-up before completely taking it off using BABOR Enzyme Cleanser, which she also praises: “It takes off every bit of make-up. Even eye make-up!”

As for anti-ageing, Mindy takes cues from Cate Blanchett and uses SK-II Pitera Starter Set. And for early-morning puffy eyes? She applies Shiseido Benefiance WrinkleResist24 Pure Retinol Eye Masks ($99, myer.com.au) for 15 minutes, which are her saviour come 5am shoots for The Mindy Project.

Fellow oily skin battlers know how hard it is to find a day cream that ticks all the boxes, but Mindy has found a winner with Dr. Denese SPF 30 Defense Day Cream. Mattifying, oil-free and SPF 30, she also notes it’s great “as a primer under make-up”.

The former star of The Office isn’t immune to pimples either, writing “Nothing like a good old white head on dark brown skin.” Mindy adds that she uses the Tria Acne Clearing Blue Light to quickly get rid of any spots before appearing on talk shows.
What a list! We hope she writes about her favourite make-up products soon...

Cetaphil cleanser is for all skin type's that's what it says on the product but it's not really good on sensitive skin actually this would cause a reaction so be warn using this product.

I have THE oiliest skin on the planet and I'm not even kidding. It's really easy for people to say oily skin is great because it ages less quickly but seriously it can be so annoying. You can't wear makeup properly without it looking dirty and shiny within hours (or in my case, minutes). Plus it makes your pores larger and your skin is more prone to blemishes. What's the use of having young-ISH looking skin when you're older if you can't enjoy makeup when you're young?

I live for Cetaphil. It is such a good skin wash, does not burn my face at all and helps with the amount of oil :)

Oily skin less wrinkles. Its true. Balance it, don't dry it out. And do not use super active treatments if you don't have acne or pimples. I love the shiesdo eye masks with retinol m they are amazing. Cetaphil cleanser is ok. Doesn't remove makeup enough for me. Good am cleanser.

I think still having oily skin way beyond your teenage years could be a good thing, as I think it means wrinkles and lines would not be so bad later on and you will have younger looking skin for longer as you age.

I ALWAYS have to have Cetaphil oily skin cleanser. It's so gentle whilst removing makeup and oil, leaves skin really soft and clean, and it's such great value!
