The Ultra A serum is a retinol serum that comes in a cylindrical shaped bottle with a pump for dispensing the serum. The serum is unusually creamy (for a serum) with an off white opaque colour. It has a hint of a scent that’s pleasant to the senses. I was instructed to apply this only at night and wash it off in the morning.

After cleansing I apply the serum in a thin, even layer to my face and let it sink in and absorb while I brush and floss my teeth. When about 10 minutes has passed, I apply a moisturiser over the serum. It doesn't ball, or pill under the moisturiser.

I was told to expect peeling, redness and irritation with this product but I'm happy to say that I did not have any peeling, redness and irritation having used up the entire bottle. I have moved on to the middle and now highest concentration of this product. This is a serum ideal for anyone looking to prevent and turn back aging of the skin.

If, like myself, you have never used retinol before, this is the ideal product to start with.

You apply it once a day to face and neck on alternate days, gradually building to daily use as tolerated.
I commenced using it in the evenings after cleansing – initially on alternate nights, then after 5 weeks, using it every night.

It comes boxed, and the product is in a hard plastic container with a pump-action dispenser that locks by turning the silver top clockwise and anti-clockwise to unlock, and dispenses by pressing on the top.

It’s creamy in colour with a lovely smooth soft texture and an aroma hard to place – not at all floral or citrusy – earthy, perhaps. It's very creamy and easily slides over the skin and readily absorbs. It’s soothing and calming to the skin and has been formulated to minimise the potential for irritation that can occur with retinol use.

Formulated with pure retinol, and supported by pro-vitamin C and the enzyme Bromelain (fruit enzyme from pineapple), there is also essential oils of Lavandula Angustifolia, Santalum Album, Zingiber Officinale Root and Citrus Grande Peel on the ingredients list.

After 10 weeks use, I have noticed a visible change in my skins appearance – skin is plumper and this has made my fine lines and wrinkles less noticeable and overall my skin has dramatically improved - an improvement that has been noticed by others.

I will continue using this product and when finished, I will consult Ultraceuticals as to whether I should move to the next level – suffice to say I am more than happy with this level.
