Is bee venom the new Botox?

When I was little, I sat on the edge of a pool, and it turned out a bee was sitting there too. Within seconds, cue a screaming child and a majorly swollen butt cheek. Ouch.
How on earth does this story relate to skin care, you ask? Well, bee venom causes swelling of the skin, so the skin care geniuses out there thought it’d be a fab idea to put it into skin care products to plump out lines and wrinkles. Makes sense, right?
So, how does bee venom benefit skin?
Bee venom stimulates blood circulation within the skin, which helps to plump and firm the skin, making fine lines and wrinkles less visible. Thanks to this sudden rush of blood under the skin’s surface, bee venom can also stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. The result? Instantly plumper skin, and younger-looking, healthier skin over time.
How should I use bee venom?
Because of its anti-ageing and plumping benefits, some skin care brands have formulated moisturisers, face masks and serums with bee venom. This makes it super simple to incorporate the stuff into your skin care routine. Just switch your regular serum or moisturiser for one containing bee venom and watch your skin reap the benefits!

Keen to get Kylie Jenner-like lips without committing to injections and looking OTT? A bee venom-based product our members have fallen head over heels for is the Abeeco Bee Venom Lip Plumper. Check out a couple of reviews below.
“The first time I tried the lip plumper, I was so surprised of the immediate effect. My lips tingled a lot, which I thought was a little weird, but it just showed how effective the formula was! After a few applications, the tingling didn't seem as strong as before, but I could see a considerable difference in my lips. Not only were my lips plumper, but also the creases were considerably smoother. I’m a very satisfied lady! :)” – Belle88
“It doesn't plump massively, but it does hydrate your lips and plump out all of the lines. The tingling sensation brings colour to the lips, also making them look fuller and rosier.” – MsSparkles
Step aside, Botox!
Did you know about bee venom’s anti-ageing effect on skin? Are you keen to try products containing bee venom?

I'm confused. The venom itself doesn't have anti-aging benefits however the venom causes a reaction which makes the skin think it's injured which then makes it heal and "plump".. the same with skin needling. But perhaps I'm wrong?

Have heard of it, but not sure whether it would have an immediate effect like botox.

I'm glad bees aren't harmed in the making of this! Poor bees.

If bees aren't hurt in the production, I would like to try this, preferable to Botox. I wish it was cheaper. Is there any chance BH could arrange some trial samples, or tell us where we could get some, since a lot of us are unsure about reactions and effectiveness. It would be better to try a small sample before investing that sort of money.

I have tried a bee venom mask. It did tingle on my skin and felt hydrating afterwards but didn't see any real plumping effect.

I too am concerned about how this venom is 'collected' (hopefully lab-developed??) But if it does what it claims to, and is humanely produced, then I'd be interested on giving it a try

The concept of bee venom on skin freaks me out, big time, but so does botox.

This has been in products especially in Asia for a long time, Australia is pretty slow at catching up, I too worry about how they get the venom, I am hoping it is a lab copy and not from the bees :(

Bees are such an important part of our planet (pollination of plants) and were not put here to give us fat lips! I hope their declining numbers are not due to them being harvested for this bee venom.

I would like to try bee venom products, but I used to be extremely allergic to bee stings when I was a child. I wouldn't want to risk having a reaction.

I've never been stung by a bee, so I'd be too worried I would have an adverse reaction.

I have used abeeco bee venom products and did the patch test as stated on the products unfortunately I can't use it. Abeeco Bee Venom have a full article about how the bees are not harmed and the must to patch test which is the same for all products.
