How to make your own face mask

Fancy, store-bought face masks are fantastic, but a DIY face mask is quick and easy to make – and you probably already have the nourishing natural ingredients lurking in your pantry!
Whether you have dry skin, oily/acne-prone skin, or dull skin, these recipes will take your complexion from lacklustre to #nextlevel...
Dry skin solution: Avocado face mask
Rich in antioxidants, monounsaturated fatty acids, and vitamins C and E, the avocado in this mask is excellent for firming, hydrating and softening skin.
You will need:
- 1 ripe avocado
- 1 cup corn starch
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Step 1. Mash a ripe avocado in a bowl.
Step 2. Add 1/4 cup corn starch, and 1 tbsp each of lemon juice and olive oil. Mix together.
Step 3. Apply to your face, and leave for 15 to 20 minutes before rinsing off with water.

Oily/acne-prone skin solution: Egg white honey mask
Honey is a natural antiseptic, so this mask is brilliant for banishing blemish-causing bacteria.
You will need:
- 1 egg white
- 1 tsp honey
- Ground oats
Step 1. Whip together egg white and honey in a bowl until well combined and a bit frothy.
Step 2. Gradually add ground oats until a paste forms.
Step 3. Apply the paste your face (avoiding the eyes) and massage it gently into your skin.
Step 4. Leave the mask on for 10 minutes, then remove with warm water.

Dull skin solution: Yoghurt face mask
The yoghurt in this mask contains skin-brightening lactic acid, while the oatmeal will help to soothe and soften your complexion.
You will need:
- 1 tbsp plain natural yoghurt
- 1 tbsp milk (or a little less, to create a paste)
- 1 tbsp oatmeal
Step 1. Place the yoghurt, milk and oatmeal in a small bowl and mix well.
Step 2. Apply to your face and leave on for 10-15 minutes.
Step 3. Massage skin, then rinse mask off with water.
bh member tip: To make a natural skin scrub from the same ingredients, simply grind the oatmeal to a finer consistency.

I am going to try the avocado face mask, my skin is extra dry, I am wondering if the lemon juice will be drying. I suppose the avocado is main ingredient so it should be hydrating

I already knew about using avocado as a face mask, but I keep on forgetting to try it. Lately I've been throwing out avocadoes because they go off too quickly. I could have been using them as a mask.

I have made face masks in the past, however now a days I wouldn't bother unless I ran out of my store bought one and desperately felt like doing one and had the time to relax...

Making your own face-masks are fun. I used to love making my own when I was a teenager. It's nice to put something on your skin that you know is good enough to eat!

Masks are something I really need to do more often. I always want to but it seems so time & money consuming. Turmeric masks sound interesting.

Love face masks! But I do avoid milk and egg stuff in the mixes, they are full of nasty bacteria...gross. Plus the smell
As some said they can be very messy hehe, but fun

I really want to find the time to do some home-made masks - I'd like to discover that they are just as effective as some of those very expensive natural ones! That would be very worthwhile!
