The best ingredient for soothing sensitive skin

Our environment always has a funny way of providing us with everything we need. From food and water to sunlight and greenery, Mother Nature truly lends us a helping hand.
Nature is also rather helpful when it comes to tackling skin issues. Take the calendula flower, for example. It may be beautiful on the outside, but its qualities go far beyond attractiveness...
What is the calendula flower?
Botanically known as ‘Calendula officinalis’, the plant grows up to 80 cm tall and has flowers that range from golden yellow to bright orange. Calendula is also known as pot marigold or marigold. It’s native from southern Europe to Iran and North Africa though its long history of cultivation makes its precise origin unknown. It is also widely naturalised further north in Europe (north to southern England) and elsewhere in warm temperate regions of the world. The genus Calendula includes about twenty species from the Mediterranean, but only Calendula officinalis has been used for its medicinal qualities. Calendula is known as the “The Calendar Flower” as it has the ability to flower any month of the year in mild climates, which means it grows really well on Jurlique’s herb farm in the Adelaide Hills for most of the year.
Why is the calendula flower so beneficial in skin care products?
This botanical is an exceptional ingredient for those with sensitive skin, as it is able to soothe and calm skin.
Not all calendula is the same...
When selecting products that make use of calendula’s many skin calming talents, quality is everything. The higher the quality of the calendula, the more powerful and effective the skin care product will be. Jurlique’s recently released Calendula Redness Rescue range doesn’t contain your average calendula crop. It is grown on Jurlique’s own (NASAA certified) biodynamic farm, which means its calendula are of the highest quality and therefore have better abilities when it comes to calming, restoring and soothing sensitive skin. Jurlique has combined its powerful calendula with a number of other active botanical extracts to create its Comfort Complex. Each product in the Calendula Redness Rescue range uses this blend, which includes cucumber and chamomile, to enrich the skin, soothe the skin and restore moisture to the skin. Yes, they really have harnessed nature’s powerful ability to truly calm sensitive skin.
The Jurlique Calendula Redness Rescue range includes a Calming Mist, a Soothing Moisturising Cream and a Restorative Treatment Serum.

Jurlique products are so beautiful. They are a bit expensive but you really do get what you pay for. And they all smell so gorgeous too. The rose handcream is just pure luxury.

I found the Jurlique Calendula Mist to be absolutely lovely, the cream was great to start with then didn't seem to help at all but my skin seems to have gone through and out of the difficult redness stage thank goodness. I found the serum pleasant to use but no better long term than any serum that has suited me.

I bought a mini trial pack of this range at the Jurlique counter in Myer (a cheaper way to try out 4 products, each in their cute Jurlique bottles, and good value considering one of the products is a serum). It was fabulous! The products also really helped with blemishes, as they are so soothing and anti-inflammatory.
