Should you be shaving your face?

Chances are you’ve taken a razor to your legs or underarms at some point, but have you ever considered shaving your face?
Sound a bit crazy? I don’t blame you for thinking so, but it turns out it may just be the next big thing in anti-ageing (you heard it here first).
Also known as ‘at home dermaplaning’, shaving your face has a major beauty benefit beyond embarrassing facial hair removal: exfoliation. Whisking away dead outer skin cells as well as hair, it can lead to collagen stimulation, deeper product penetration and smoother makeup application.
Now I bet you’re wondering whether shaving your face will leave you with thicker, coarser hair. According to aesthetician Kery Benjamin, this isn’t the case as you aren’t changing the structure of the hair follicle. How’s that for good news?
When it comes to choosing your razor, you can use a normal women’s razor for your legs (making sure it’s not actually the one you use on your legs) such as Schick Hydro Silk razor or Gillette Venus Embrace Sensitive Razor. Alternatively, you can opt for a women’s facial hair trimmer such as 1000 Hour Eye Essentials Hair Trimmer.
For best results, pull the skin taut and shave downwards in short strokes with the razor at a 45-degree angle against the skin. Then, for a super soft complexion, follow up with a hydrating serum (we love Ultraceuticals Ultra B2 Hydrating Serum) and your usual moisturiser.
Would you take a razor to your face? What other beauty routines would you steal from the boys?

Yes I have tried this myself my facial hair doesn't grow back thicker, in fact I shaved my legs and under my arms for years now the hair under my arms doesn't grow back at all now. My legs I get a few growing back but not many, looks like the years of shaving has done the opposite for me.

Just use regular face exfoliator. Never shave your face else you will have to keep doing it! Oh the horror.

Too scary for me. I'm content to just use a hair removal cream.

I'd feel a bit scared to shave my face as I wouldn't know how my skin would react and what the result would be.

Noooooo!!! NEVER shave your face!! I don't care if somebody who should know this stuff says your hair won't grow back thicker - They're wrong!! I know women who've shaved their chin and upper lip and they grew so much more hair! Your leg hair grows back thicker from shaving. What makes you think facial hair won't?!! Waxing causes hair to grow back the same, or thinner/finer/lighter over time. Stick with that!!

Well, considering how course a mans beard becomes after years of shaving, I don't think I'll go down this path!

I have tried waxing, plucking, epilady and nair cream but nothing is quicker or a closer cut to shaving-i just use ordinary razors and i haven't had any issues -works great for me :)

I was told once by a dermatologist to get a non serrated blunt plastic knife and do the motions of shaving as it helps the facial muscles !
