12 man-approved beauty products

Want to successfully coexist with your boy while also sneakily encouraging him to lift his grooming game? If so, I suggest stocking your bathroom cabinet with these dude-friendly items...
Facial cleanser and scrub
Most men will admit to using a face scrub once or twice a week, and this is a wonderful thing. However, without a thorough daily cleanse, a man's skin will still be somewhat dry, dull and not as smooth as it could be. Pop a cleanser with neutral packaging in the shower caddy next to his beloved pore scrub and he'll get the hint. Hopefully.
Try: NeoStrata Facial Cleanser and Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Pore Scrub.
Pore strips
Men are visual creatures, this we know. They also tend to have oily skin, which can lead to blocked pores. This is where the humble pore strip comes in. While you adore them for their ability to remove pore-clogging dirt, it’s staring at the strip once all the blackheads have been removed that males love most. Sound rather icky? Yes, but they won't deny they love it.
Try: Biore Ultra Deep Cleansing Pore Strips.
Body wash
Everyone needs to wash. But doing so with a generic soap that strips the skin of its natural oils is not wise, yet this is what dudes usually do. Ditch your current sweetly scented body cleanser for a more natural-smelling one with simple packaging, and those not-so-delightful hairy cakes of soap will soon disappear.
Try: Grown Alchemist Organic Body Cleanser ($24.95, grown.com).
Shaving cream
Ladies can actually learn a lot from males when it comes to shaving. Often skipping the shaving cream in favour of a quick once over on our legs, we're likely to cause more skin irritation and dryness than our male friends who use it each and every time they shave. A rich, nourishing and non-irritating gel will give you both smooth, soft, happy skin.
Try: First Aid Beauty Smooth Shave Cream ($8.95, 07 5630 1560).
Body moisturiser
Both sexes are a little slack when it comes to slathering on body moisturiser on a daily bases. Solve this by always keeping a large pump pack body lotion on your bathroom counter. The pump top is great for those who are a little lazy, and if you can see it, you'll definitely use it.
Try: NIVEA Pure & Natural Body Lotion.
Sunscreen
We all put sunscreen on when we're heading to the beach, but its an action that should be performed daily. By keeping a SPF facial moisturiser on hand, you and your man will be getting a double dose of skin care goodness, and as for the body, using the aforementioned pump top trick to your advantage is a smart idea.
Try: Ultraceuticals Ultra Protective Daily Moisturiser SPF 30+ Mattifying for the face, and Banana Boat Ultra Pump Pack for the body.
Shampoo and conditioner
Men have been known to wash their strands with soap. This is not ideal. You obviously have your own hair concerns to consider when purchasing a shampoo and conditioner duo, but if you can opt for man-friendly packaging and limit the sweet scents, you’ll see your man reaching for the ol’ shampoo bottle at least once a week. Or twice, if you’re lucky.
Try: David Babaii ABSOLUTE HYDRATION Shampoo and Conditioner.
Hair styling product
Unless your dude sports a shaggy 'do, chances are he uses some sort of styling product. Save highly valued cabinet space by opting for multi-purpose hair styling products. That is, products that work wonders on both long (yours!) and short (his!) hair. Simple.
Try: KEVIN.MURPHY UN.DRESSED ($35.95, 1800 104 204).
Toothpaste
We all have teeth that need cleaning, and generally, our concerns are all the same: we want clean, pearly whites and fresh breath, and to also limit any sensitivity. You may have a little squabble over your brand and flavour of choice, but hey, once that's sorted, sharing is definitely the best option.
Try: Colgate Optic White.
Tweezers
You know the importance of a well-groomed brow, and probably keep a pair of quality tweezers in your handbag, bathroom and bedroom. But for the delightful occasions when your man must remove a stray hair from his nostril or a rogue eyebrow that could lead to an unsightly monobrow, keeping a somewhat manly pair of tweezers on hand will make him feel a little more dignified.
Try: Tweezerman Slant Tweezer in Black ($39.95, 1800 251 215).

The idea that my bloke has a "beloved pore scrub", uses moisturiser of any kind, or resorts to hair styling products is just precious. On the other hand, he's completely paid off his mortgage ... so I'm not sure which of us really has our priorities straight!

My hubby is more precious about his shower/ skin care products than I am! Unfortunately, the things he falls in love with are usually expensive. Out of the products featured, he uses the Colgate white toothpaste and the Biore pore strips

My partner has become a bit better with grooming himself since meeting me, but he's still pretty no frills. Id love for him to get into a proper cleanse/scrub routine and wear sunscreen everyday since he's so pale

My guy loves me fussing over him with respect to beauty products and loves it when I order something new for him to use. I recently ordered Clarins' exfoliating/cleanser in one which I think will be great.

I don't know many male friends who use any of these products apart from the general shampoo/conditioner, toothpaste, shaving cream and body wash/soaps.

my man is a very basic grooming needs kinda guy. Soap is his choice for face, body and hair, regardless of anything nice that I try to make available, but that's ok cause it means more room for all my beauty products.
