Two of the strangest skin care innovations

At beautyheaven, we love hearing about new approaches to skincare. These two got our vote for the most unusual this week:
Drinkable sunscreen
Ever miss a spot when you apply your sunscreen? Not anymore! The world’s first ingestible sunscreen claims to block 97 percent of harmful UVA and UVB rays by making water molecules vibrate on the skin. While the prospect of drinking just 2mls of Harmonized H20 for SP30 protection sounds appealing, the new product has attracted some scepticism regarding it’s efficacy. For now, we think we’ll stick to the old-fashioned slip, slop, slap.
Vitamin C showers
We all know the importance of vitamin C in our diet, but did you know you can also get it in your shower? With a celebrity following that reportedly includes Leonardo DiCaprio, vitamin infused shower heads claim to reduce the side effects of chlorine exposure – including dry skin, frizzy hair and dandruff – by neutralising the chemical with vitamin Cbefore it hits your head. Unsurprisingly, critics are divided as to whether the filters actually provide any real health advantage.
What new beauty innovations would you like to see?

Love the idea of a Vitamin C shower and that drinkable sunscreen sounds perfect but is it safe?

I've seen the Vitamin C shower head on TVSN. It sounded more like a gimmick or scam to me :P

Drinkable sunscreen doesn't sound appealing to me. I also wonder how safe it is. I'll probably just stick with regular sunscreen.

Further to my above comment - here's a link to a blog post showing than many people put hundreds of chemicals (up to 515) on their bodies each day. Given than up to 60% of what we put on our skin is absorbed into our system we need to be very careful with what products we use. What's a bit of chlorine in the scheme of things!

Not a fan of drinking sunscreen - just another chemical for the poor liver to handle!
I don't think the chemicals in shower water could be any more harmful than all the body products we use on a daily basis - bit over the top - can think of other ways to limit the chemicals going on the body eg natural and organic products!

I read about the drinkable sunscreen this morning. I don't like the sound of that. :( This isn't a new innovation, but I want to get a filter for my shower head. I can smell the chemicals in our water and that can't be good for skin.
