Is 'jamsu' the secret to mattifying oily skin?

If no amount of finishing powder or primer prep is keeping your base mattified, perhaps it’s time to try ‘jamsu’. In a technique that sounds completely counter-intuitive, this Korean viral beauty hack involves dunking your head into a bucket of cold water in a bid to set your makeup for the day and mattify oily skin.

'Jamsu’ which translates to ‘diving’ or ‘submerging’ is said to leave a flawless, airbrushed finish and promises to carry our makeup through the most humid of summer days.
So how exactly does it work?
After applying your base (this includes your primer, foundation and concealer), take a loose baby or talcum powder and dust it across your face until lightly covered.
After this step, set up a bowl of cold water and submerge your entire face, all the way up to your hairline.
Once finished, pat your face dry with a towel and apply the rest of your face, including your eyeliner, mascara, and lips. And voila, you have a flawless finish.
But, be careful…
For those with sensitive skin or acne-prone skin, we recommend sticking to your setting sprays or non-comedogenic setting powders. While this method may set your makeup and take away excess shine, it can also compromise the ability for your skin to breathe and lead to clogged pores. To avoid potential congestion it is important to do a thorough double cleanse at the end of the day.

The video looks like it actually works, but I think for me it's probably too much effort. I would try it out once just out of curiosity though.

I saw this years ago and I actually tried it! It was so bizarre but it worked. It felt like I had a mask on my face though and I was worried about clogged pores all day. This may be good for stage makeup
