Freckle tattooing now exists

If you’ve got freckles, you’ve probably spent a lot of time using all sorts of brightening serums and full-coverage foundations to hide them or reduce their appearance. I know I have! But put down the concealer because those freckles you’ve accumulated over the years? They’re now très chic! So much so that people who aren’t blessed with those little kisses from the sun are having them permanently tattooed on!

Freckle tattooing is becoming increasingly popular all over the world, with tattoo artists able to create pretty little freckles or enhance existing ones. Like brow tattooing, freckle tattoos are made using subtle pigments to enhance areas of the face. The most popular area to have freckles added is across the bridge of the nose and cheeks.

Cosmetic tattoo artist Gabrielle Rainbow says most of her clients start out with just a few little freckles but always come back wanting more. ‘I try to go with the whole policy of less is more,’ she told ELLE. 'I do a little bit, but they always come back within a few days and are like, "I want more freckles!"'
As with brow tattoos, the initial result can be quite dark. Thankfully, this will fade over the next few days to create a lovely sun-kissed effect on the skin. The freckles will then continue to fade over time, lasting up to two years!

Celebrities are also big on the faux freckle trend. In a recent interview with The Coveteur, Margot Robbie revealed that her flawless-looking complexion is often thanks to drawn-on freckles! While she’s usually wearing a ‘ton of makeup’ at events, Margot’s makeup artist dots freckles on over the top of her foundation with a brow pencil to create a more natural effect. ‘It’s my favorite thing they do,’ she says. ‘You feel younger and like you’ve been out in the sun, it looks amazing.’ The effect is so subtle, you can barely even see it!
Not keen to go down the tattoo route, but still want to get in on some freckle action? We’ve got expert tips on how to fake them without having to commit to a tattoo or exposing your face to the sun’s harmful rays (still an absolute no-no! Sunscreen and safety first, people). But if you’ve already got freckles, wear them with pride! I’ve started removing my concealer already.
What do you think of freckle tattooing? Would you try faux freckles?

The older I am getting the more my freckles have faded. Younger days we were trying any thing to remove freckles. I remember trying lemon juice, it did not work. I would not go for the trend of faux freckles.

This is crazy! You can achieve this with makeup. I wouldn't recommend something like this that you might hate in a few years

I don't get why people would do this! Yeah they're cute if they are natural and are born with them no need to get fake ones!

Ahhhh pass! If you have them, so be it. But to go so far as to tattoo? That's permanent!

I think it's adorable, but not entirely sure if it is a trend that will last

I'm sorry, but this is in the realm of the ridiculous to me.

Freckles are super cute, but tattooing them on seems a little excessive!

I've always wanted to reduce my pigmentation and freckles. Like somebody else said as soon as I could wear makeup I was glad to cover them.

Yay! Freckles are in vogue finally. I have a few freckles that I did try and conceal when I was a teenager. So, now, they are simply cute

I have spent my entire life trying to hide them and now that they are mostly faded I do not want to have them tattoed on, I guess those who have them want them gone, those who don't have them want them...

Mine are well and truly faded now but still visible and I don't mind them at all. As a child I hated my freckles and as soon as I could wear makeup I tried to cover them up. I can't imagine why anyone would want to tattoo their face, or anywhere else for that matter.

I've spent a lifetime not liking mine, and they have finally mostly faded from my face, so there is no way I would do this!

I feel like this is a trend that will pass quickly and then people will be stuck with freckles on their face that they may regret (not saying freckles are a bad thing)

Tattooed freckles? Are they talking about freckles that you paint on or fully tattooed on? It's not clear in the article. If they're fully tatted on, then no thanks!

Whether it's freckles or normal tattoo's I wouldn't care if it's a trend or not I definitely wouldn't do this. You are tattoo for life & with some people it looks ok depending what it is but others it's disgusting to look at & usually the only people who get them to be honest are usually the rough type it's not a good look on them & I've less interest in people who are like that.

I wouldnt think of this for myself, however if the person who is getting it done really understands the whole process; and is well informed then its up to them if they want to get them. I feel the same way with eyebrow tattooing.
